Yes, it's getting better, but wargrafix, can I make some drawing corrective comments?

Here is some progress on the piece. I await washka's advice though.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I had an issue with the pose and how the lighting was affecting the shading, so tried an alteration. Also I'm having issues with the gold headpiece. Its still looking a bit bright. I'm trying to include atmosphere lighting but no luck there. ![]() ________ Genie lighter Last edited by wargrafix; 04-05-2011 at 02:52 PM.. |

This is just a personal vision of what you could do, I trashed a bit your art (I hope you will forgive me) to show you something else.
You know correction is a matter of point of view, what we commonly call errors and mistakes can also be used as expressives tools, personnally I don't like the word "common". Maybe you're kinda suffocating your image, so my constructives comments are: -outline -contrast -clarity Keep it up man, this is a great job you've done!

I pushed a bit luminosity (+40) for the jpeg compression, on my photoshop/screen the initial lightning was kinda OK, but maybe you can push it up a lill' bit.
If you've got any question about the rush I've done, I can answer it.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Things have been quite hectic.
@Stoneking: Thank you. I'm keeping things loose so adding stuff isn't too tough. @chris_solo: Thanks, I'm having alot of fun with it. @washka: I am most grateful for your advice. Before I worked on the piece I had asked myself what time of day lighting I wanted. The light sources I wanted were divided into the sun, the massive planet and minor, the torches. The heavily muted colors did appear to suffocate the image because I wanted a sort of dusk look. I am doing a little brightening to see what effect works. The sky color you suggested is a bit too bright for the time of day I'm looking at, but it shows the other possibilities. Which I am really grateful to you by the way. Contrast is something I will leave for finishing touches since the lighting is almost done. but not quite. Here what the progress is so far. The shattered moon was in my original though process, and I think its working in the image. ![]() ________ Ferrari 248 F1 History Last edited by wargrafix; 04-05-2011 at 02:54 PM.. |

Ok man, my comments weren't just pointing out your lightning but I can understand what you mean with the dust, so it doesn't matter...
Nice to see you again into the comp', keep it up!

lol, I did understand about the clarity and contrast needs of the image. For me, that will be the second to last step before the final touch. Right now its getting environmental elements completed is the pressing issue.
Thanks. ^_^ ________ Lovely Wendie99 Last edited by wargrafix; 04-05-2011 at 02:55 PM.. |

Nice looking image, i think the lighting is ok, it keeps it more dramatic to have it set at dusk.

Thanks Andrew, I am partial to either to sunrise or sunset lighting, but middle of day lighting gives good effects too.
Well its more or less winding down. just cleaning up issues and working on increasing contrast. Barring any major changes, the final stage of color will begin. ![]() ________ HARLEY-DAVIDSON KHK Last edited by wargrafix; 04-05-2011 at 02:56 PM.. |

Thank you very much. Its amazing how far my skills with digital paintings have come. It was a bit jarring not painting on the final surface but I think its evening out.
