Gift to the Gods - The Sacrifice of i5aac - happymat27
Hi,
I enjoyed the last challenge so much I've decided to try my hand in this months one too. This time I intend to build The Sacrifice of Isaac by Caravaggio using Maya but resituate it in a robot world. I still need to really think about the style of the mechanical objects but here's a rough sketch of my idea. Hopefully I'll be updating on a regular basis though the month. Cheers and good luck to all, Mat ![]() Last edited by happymat27; 04-03-2010 at 06:15 PM.. |

Lovely sketch, looking forward to seeing this one take shape. I like the idea and juding from your sketch it looks like a maccabre style of robots or something
Best of luck with the project ![]() |

This theme would have been my first pick if I were using Zbrush. Great theme depicted many times throughout the history and truly a portfolio piece if you do it right. Angel stopping Abrahams hand...
Unfortunatelly its direct reference to active religion. Really sorry. ![]() |

Thanks for your thoughts about my idea but I'm a little worried now that a reference to active religion (even in response to a work of art) will disqualify my piece.
Would it be better to change my plan? Last edited by happymat27; 04-03-2010 at 06:48 PM.. Reason: completing query |

i wouldn't worry, there were no robots in the bible (if there were I reckon more people would read it)
edit: also - I don't think there's an issue as to where you draw your inspiration from, if you were to slap a dirty great crucifix in the picture there might be an issue (it would also be horribly inaccurate) Last edited by poopipe; 04-03-2010 at 07:31 PM.. |

Ok, thanks for that, so long as there is no issue with the content of my piece then I'll carry on with it.

Ok, until someone says that what I'm doing is against the rules I might as well continue... it'll hopefully make a nice portfolio piece at the end of the day at any rate.
I've made a little progress on the design for the middle robot (model no. 48-rAhAM), it will be holding the screwdriver. Cheers, Mat ![]() |

Alrighty then,
I've made a start on modelling, here's a wire of the torso for the above sketch. I think I might get a little more opportunity to model today so there may be further updates later. Cheers for your thoughts, Mat ![]() |
