![]() TNT... I will not compete with you on Dharma, so be my guest . I have 2 concepts in my head already, with one getting preference. I have also ideas that would make interesting "abandoned retreats" but dont feature jungle. Such as... Korriban - planet of the Sith, or Event Horizon ![]() Last edited by JAPO; 01-04-2010 at 05:36 PM.. |

Remember there's so many variations you could go with this one, especially if you aren't keen on modelling the jungle parts, that's why you could have an underwater retreat or in a cave or even a tree house, anyone remember the priests treehouse in the Broken Sword games?
where nico got poisened and George had to find a root to treat her. There's so much potential for this one, so stop reading this and go start sketching/modelling ![]() Kind Regards CG.

hi everyone
... i am a new member here and i think i will join in in this competition.. i just had a question.. what is the criteria for judging this one... is speed the major element here or actual quality... what i mean to say is should i try to model what i want as fast as i can , or should i try to make use of the whole 240 minutes ? .... i hope i made myself clear with that question ![]() Last edited by a7madfat7y; 03-04-2010 at 07:29 PM.. |

Hi a7madfat7y use the time frame as best as you can, you can choose to model as quickly as your desire.... BUT.....only if you are happy with doing that, if not just model what you can in the 240 minutes, don't be afraid if you've not finished either it's fundamentally all about learning here just as much as taking part. Regarding the judging process, your models or scenes are judged solely on the modelling alone....nothing more....nothing less, you are allowed to create beauty renders if you wish but they are optional if you wished to illustrate your model(s) scene better. The quality of your modelling will depend on the scene you create.....for instance if you are new to modelling or still a beginner set yourself a smaller scale scene with a closeup camera and model what you can to fill the scene up... it's all about what you are comfortable with. In time your modelling will get better and indeed faster. I myself started participating in the speed modelling challenges 4 years ago and could barely model anything resemling the subject matter in the time allowed. But after practicing and practising and planning and planning I slowly got better and better. The best thing in your favours before you actually start modelling is to pratice and plan, draw out your concept(s) have a few test runs at modelling certain elements and see how long it takes you and then start from scratch and beat that time etc. Also know your toolset and more importantly know your shortcuts.... these things are invaluable and can save you so much time, especially utilise things like symmetry, duplicates, instances etc they will help too.
Best of luck with your entry and i'm looking forward to seeing your thread very soon ![]()
