SMC#05 - Lost Jungle - Tree house - AndreasOlsen
Hello all.
Actuelly i thought i would skip this competition, because when i try to make plants and so, they often turns out realy realy bad. And when you cant say jungle without plants, then theres my problem ![]() But today i threw somthing toghter, that i think i will be able to make, with my knowledge. Where i wanna go with this image, is to add some ladders, and maybe make a small relaxing area on the other side of the tree. As i want the tree to be a nice, and relaxing place to do some research or somthing. here is 60 minutes of work: |

Wow that technique is awesome. Should be nice and easy to unwrap as well! I'm glad ya decided to enter this competition! For the leaves on the trees I find alot of people unless using programs and like Vue and paint effects thend to use flat planes. Then they just texture leaves with an alpha map. I find this technique works great. As for your tree if your wanting to make it look realistic (which can be hard to do) one tip I have to to remember the Fibonacci numbers. Tree branches follow this pattern 1 (base), 1(branch), 2(2 branches), 3 (branches), 5(branches), 8(branches) etc.. When you start working on a branch you pretend this is the base to then it will split of into 2 then each of those branches will branch off into 3 etc..

As for leaves and foliage, I intend to use what default max offers. But for beauty render, I will use Vue. I hope my PC will survive that.

@ClassicGamer-3DT Thank you, means alot!
@JAPO Thanks for you tip, i do not own Vue yet, so i have to deal with it without that but i will try to use the 3ds max follige in further projects i make. But for this challange, i think im gonna model it my own, as i feel that you shouldent be judged on somthing, which is already pre-made But thanks! helps alot!I have a small update for today. Worked 40 mins today, so its 60+40 =100 mins so far. I`am not satisfied with the result of the tree, and i arentt finnish with it one aswell, just wanted to get the other things done, before i run out of time. @the_bromox iŽam not sure if i did the thing you ment, but i tryed to add some more branches, and will defnatly make some more, where they hit the leafs. Goodnight Andreas Olsen |

yeah according to the main branches you did it fine. Try it out sometime, look at a tree and remember the numbers I guarantee the tree will follow those rules 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 .

1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13...
Yeah, the_bromox is right though, i does work. It can be found in lots more places as well. Sunflower spirals, shells, ferns, so much in nature applies by this rule. If you want to see something that works as well, look up the golden ratio or phi, very interesting stuff. (Well to me anyway)

I'm loving the tree house, it looks fantastic. is the tree a proxy, or the real tree you will be using?

Hello all
I did spend all the time now, and the last minutes went way to fast ![]() So i tryed to finnish up all i had going, and unfortunately i had to throw away alot of my ideas. Especially did i want to model 2 sun chairs, on the lowest platform. And my tree did need some more work aswell. But im actelly quit happy about my result anyways. Here is some renders, will make a better clay render, with wires and beutyshot later on. Let me hear what you think ![]() |

But i hope that some nice texture maps may improve it a little, to get a nice result on a beuty shot.Cheers |
