June / July 2010 - Movie Mashup Challenge
![]() Don't forget only 2 days left until the Movie Mashup Challenge Deadline. Closing date - 15th July 2010 June / July - Movie Mashup Challenge Deadline - 15th July 2010 - GMT 23:59:59 (the last second!) This time we are returning to the unified challenge again with all 5 streams coming into 1 to give the moderators and organizers a bit of a breather, and also to mix things up a bit and as always, to have fun. You are required to make an image in either 3d or 2d or a mix combining elements from 2 of your favourites feature films - hense: "Movie Mashup" Your final image can be of an actual scene from the movie or just a character or an object or a mix but the subjects must all be from 1 movie and the style must from another. Confused!? Well there are some examples below: The requirements are very simple, make a final rendered image in any digital medium under the title of 'Movie Mashup'. We want a final render of upto 1280 on either axis in either 2d, 3d or a mix. You can incorporate photos as long as you make it clear where they are used (see next point) At least 1 additional image must also be submitted showing the workings of your image, for example, a wire frame, steps of a 2d painting, or the photos of a matte painting. You must try to make it clear to the judges how your image was created, but it is up to you exactly what you submit. Please make your own wip thread in this forum and use the naming convention "Movie Mashup - YOUR IMAGE TITLE - YOUR FORUM NAME" A few more rules 1. All work must be your own original designs. 2. All work must be completed for this project along, pre-made work not allowed. 3. Individual entries only, no team-work 4. All entries must be submitted to the final entries thread by Midnight GMT on the 15th July 2010 5. Judging - An initial round by the 3DTotal staff and moderators will select the best 10. A second round will then involve each judge looking at each image and scoring and commenting. All comments and scores will be added together into the final winners article published on 1st August Some Ideas to get you thinking A scene from the 'matrix' in the sytle of pixars 'up' The 'back to the future delorean car' in the style of 'city of the lost children' (steampunk) The wooden horse from 'Troy' in the style of 'Star Wars' 'Lord of the Rings character' in the style of 'Saving Private Ryan' Other suggestions include: Snatch Meets Dawn Of The Dead Gone In 60 Seconds (Eleanor Car) Meets Blade Runner The Lion King Meets Underworld James Bond Meets Monsters Inc Romancing The Stone Meets Shrek The Wizzard Of Oz Meets Minority Report Who Framed Roger Rabbit Meets I Robot The Rock's Alacatraz Meets The Beatles Yellow Submarine Harry Potter Meets Tron The possibilities for this one are only limited by your own imagination, talent and creativity All we ask is that your image fits under the title of 'Movie Mashup' Prize list 1st Place e-on software - Vue 8 Infinite - worth $895 3dconnexion - SpacePilot PRO - worth $490 Focal Press - Any 2 books - worth approx $60-$100 Gnomon - Any training DVD (download) - worth approx $60 2dartist or 3dcreative digital magazine, 12 month subscription - worth $40 3DTotal - t-shirt 2nd Place e-on software - Ozone 4.0 - worth $295 3dconnexion - SpaceExplorer - worth $370 Topogun - Single user licence - worth $100 Focal Press - Any 2 books - worth approx $60-$100 Eat3d - Any DVD (download) - worth approx $60 2dartist or 3dcreative digital magazine, 12 month subscription - worth $40 3DTotal - t-shirt 3rd Place e-on software - Ozone 4.0 - worth $295 3dconnexion - SpaceNavigator - worth $120 Topogun - Single user licence - worth $100 Gnomon - Any training DVD (download) - worth approx $60 Digital Tutors - One Month's Membership worth - $45 2dartist or 3dcreative digital magazine, 6 month subscription - worth $20 3DTotal - t-shirt 4th Place Eat3d - Any DVD (download) - worth approx $60 Digital Tutors - One Month's Membership worth - $45 2dartist or 3dcreative digital magazine, 6 month subscription - worth $20 3DTotal - t-shirt 5th Place 3DTotal - Any 1 ebook - worth $15 3DTotal - t-shirt 6th Place 3DTotal - Any 1 ebook - worth $15 3DTotal - t-shirt 7th Place 3DTotal - Any 1 ebook - worth $15 3DTotal - t-shirt 8th Place 3DTotal - Any 1 ebook - worth $15 3DTotal - t-shirt 9th Place 3DTotal - t-shirt 10th Place 3DTotal - t-shirt

It's important that you focus on the movie theme as this is something the judges will take into consideration but I guess you could use a video game character if that particular video game has been made into a movie.

You are allowed to sculpt in this challenge, all is fair game so you can model, sculpt, paint, matte, composite all into one image
