modeling/charchter design books?

Hi!

I really want to have some good modeling or character design books.
I'm not a beginner anymore but defiantly not a pro (yet :P)
I have knowledge of Maya, Modo and a basics of Zbrush.

Can you recommend me some good books?
Ow and what are your opinions about the D'artiste books?

Thanks!

I liked Paul Steeds "Modeling a Character in 3ds Max" a lot.
This guy worked at Quake I think and gave a quite funny introduction about his professional career.

If you want to know more about anatomy I'd recommend you to check your local library for books about medical illustration or "Gray's Anatomy".

I'm german, so I enjoyed "Gottfried Bammes - Artists Handbook to Anatomy", since it's full of photographies portraying people of different gender, age, figure and so on.

Hope I could help.

EDIT: You should check fashion/styling magazines too, great source for 'mug shots'

I have this book: Anatomy for Artists: A complete guide to drawing the human body by Barrington Barber. Its not aimed at modeling, but I find it very helpful to create my 3D models because it explains (with drawings) how the skeleton and muscle systems are layed out, and how male and female forms are.

Good zbrush books:
http://www.amazon.com/ZBrush-Digital...3886230&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/ZBrush-Charact...3886230&sr=1-2

The first link goes into modeling an entire character. Has some good info and reference on anatomy. The second is a good supplement to the first, but I find the first much more useful if you only want one book.

thanks for the tips! The anatomy for artist looks really interesting!

@ Imajus: Do you think those Zbrush books are also good for beginners in zbrush?
