Movie Mashup - The Misty Rider - Boco
![]() Easy Rider is a 1969 American road movie written by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Terry Southern, produced by Fonda and directed by Hopper. It tells the story of two bikers (played by Fonda and Hopper) who travel through the American Southwest and South with the aim of achieving freedom. The Mist, is a 2007 American horror film based on the 1980 novella of the same name by Stephen King. The plot revolves around members of the small town of Bridgton, Maine who conceal themselves in a local supermarket when a violent thunderstorm cuts off the power. While they struggle to survive an unnatural mist which envelops the town and conceals vicious, supernatural monsters, extreme tensions rise amongst the survivors. I love you Wikipedia Best of luck to everyone! Last edited by ClassicGamer-3DT; 12-06-2010 at 01:13 PM.. |

![]() I thought about a concept for a bit and came up with a shot involving both Easy Rider and the Mist. First off, you should keep in mind that Easy Rider and the Mist have great storylines (not to mention epic endings), and I'm not trying to compete with that. In other words, I used stuff from both movies, but I'm not trying to write an alternative ending to Easy Rider (or to the Mist for that matter). That said, I wanted to give the Mist sort of a double-layered task. It leads the bikers to what they're looking for: a brief moment of freedom, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out how it all turns out. All comments are of course welcome! |

![]() I chose a color scheme that resembles the one used in Easy Rider. As you can see I predefined the colors of the most important parts (like metal and skin) so I can always fall back on them. It helps to put up some guidelines for yourself, yet, you should never turn your guidelines into boundaries. Note: It's also a good idea to predefine your black. Black is never really 'black', nor is white ever really 'white', so it helps to lock your darkest color and not go beyond that point. Again, you shouldn't see this as a boundary. The real boundary is #000000 ![]() |

You've got such a beautiful painting style, lovely little details and such a strong idea of what you want to do and your ability to portray it too is excellent. Loving what you've created so far, looking forward to each and every update if this is the standard set so early on

Thx for the comments! I could really use some outside perspective on this one!
Oh, and maybe admins could change the title of my topic to a more conventional one? |

![]() ![]() I've painted the trees in the background first, mainly because that's the boring part and I wanted to get that out of the way. I made a custom brush with scattering to do it. Feel free to use it yourself, if you want. |

Sweet and timely, it's looking great so far. I think the atmosphere of "the mist" is a little lost, it kinda looks just as much like they are jumping through a low hanging cloud or something. Perhaps swapping out some of the colour pallet into something more neutral and grey would help bring some of that feeling back.
Really great concept though, looking forward to seeing the final product.

Thanks for the comments! They definitely keep me motivated.
@ Puckducker: I agree, it looks too cloudy, whereas it should resemble smoke / fog. I'll look into some reference, thanks for the tip! |
