xxxcubanxxx - hey man! Very true what you said and that's why the main body will be that of a frog. Question still remains how I should integrate the two... Would have been a lot easier to have a frog like head on a human body instead of the opposite. Will have to ponder that some more.
Anyways here is this afternoon's work, also wip as you can see, but it was a lot of fun finally doing a medieval style model for once . It might also turn out to be a chess piece, but who knows ...![]() ![]() ![]()

Ok, my comments:
-A real texturing work (+spec). -What happened with your normal map? -Improve clothing/rigging. Nice one pawn man, great you've finished this one, keep on this way!

Well there is actually a specularity map applied (the second one). But it is very primitive...
![]() The normal map seemed to think it liked being squarish so I don't really know, did it in xnormal, took forever to render them all... But all those odd stuff at the ends don't show up on the model as that is just an addition mostly by the program to make sure there is a normal map everywhere on the model, no gaps. What did go really crazy though was the bump and height, they seemed to have some odd black splotches at places, fixed a bit in PS, but didn't really have the time since everything was freaking out there at the end .Regarding the diffuse and the design I actually think this was a real texture work . It was somewhat post-modern in its approach and design though... Will probably do another version (classical) this week .The clothing I actually liked, but i will redesign the gloves and perhaps add some bits and pieces to the gambeson such as at the elbows and add some details to the coif as well. Rig: Well that was just a quick skeleton in Mudbox to be able to strike a decent pose for the final (had to do it really quickly this morning...). All in all I am really satisfied with the sculpt and high poly and the design of the diffuse actually turned out quite cool . The other textures (including another version) I will have to rework...

Same for bump. About clothing, I can imagine you did the rigging fast, but on the posing he's a bit floating on da clothe, what do you think? About texturing, you can go waaaaaayyyyy further, especially if you like hightpoly and zbrush or mudbox (yes I know it's for low-poly). Yes it's "quite" cool, but you've lost all your details work because it's full black now. I know black is cool, I like black too, but I think it could be even better with a real lightning then baking the texture. Full black mean "There is nothing", I think your work isn't "nothing" => don't hide it. Those are just personal opinions Dr. Hula, I think if you push this one with lot's more work , details, accesories, texturing, it would make some really great hight-poly piece for a folio, some good stuff, because there is already some good work on it.[Edit] Can I make a paintover your fatspeed on #1, some nicez painting from it? Monk/magus.

Yepp and those are the "end pieces" I talked about, it is not visible geometry really (for the most part)...
![]() True, that's the posing/rigging part. Yepp I totally understand about the texturing and all you say, and I agree! I will definitely make this a "portfolio piece". Will add more accessories as well as do a step by step texture process with everything. This time I just projected everything on the low poly, but I will do it in sections, and the low poly will be piece by piece for the most part, with a skeleton binding it all together. I just lost too much of my clothing detail... :/ Will also make sure to do this reiteration with the two texture sets, one old school design and one in this futuristic, stuck in a game of digital chess. Yeah, sure you can! ![]()
