Movie Mashup: The Nightmare before Avatar ~ elemenohpe ~

'Allo,

New to the forums, and a little late on entering, but wanted to join in on the modeling challenge I'm rusty but this looks like fun and will hopefully get my 3D blood flowing again.

My idea is to mash together The Nightmare before Christmas with Avatar. So the toon/claymation style of The Nightmare before Christmas, but using Avatar colors and char. I messed around a bit to get the general idea of it below.

Still need to do a quick sketch of the Avatar char to figure out the logistics and design. I will post that when I have it. I will warn, I am rusty lol. I'm hoping to do pretty much the Nightmare Before Christmas poster in terms of what I'm modeling and texturing.

I will be using Softimage XSI for modeling & texturing etc, Photoshop will be used to help with textures maps and compositing etc...cgtextures.com to help out with some of the textures as well.

Thanks for looking,
Elemenohpe

Thanks Mithras, hopefully I won't disappoint.

Here is an update with the toon sketch of Jake, in a T pose. As I warned I am rusty. This'll do it for now. Time to start modeling. Thanks for looking! and please leave any comments.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Work kicked it into high gear, and I've been doing mass overtime. I have done some modeling as I've been able to and will post it soon. Thanks

WIP Update

So here is an update as to what I'm doing. I have the body made, except for a necklace which i'll make before I head to bed here shortly.

I'm not sure if you can see the triangle count because the image has been resized, but its at 15k or so tri's without smoothing. There is a beaded armband with lots of beads that is causing the high count, otherwise it drops to 3.5k in tri's.

I have definitely not moved as quickly as I wanted to on this, but I'm gonna keep trudging ahead. Thanks for looking guys. I appreciate it and any comments. I hope to have a head to show sooner than later.

Nice work but I think the knees are a bit too low.

Thanks for the help

chichiri, you're right the knees are too low. I managed to miss that. I've fixed that now, thanks for the eye.

Gonna have some dinner and start working on the head here shortly. Will post when I have something worth showing. Thanks again

Here is another update. Finished with modeling. I want to unwrap and add some textures. Add a few stripes and more texture to the guy. Thanks for looking!
