didnt find joy in mudbox. to say the truth i started to hate this program and disliked this autodesk competition.
so i dumped this mud sculpt and thought i'd do a decent sculpt using my favourit Z .so concept stays the same. only i stylised it in my style. ![]() first progress. only building up shapes and created the face to give it personalitie. |

I think that blue stuff is because your probably freezed a part of your mesh. Hit shift+U to unfreeze it.

I told you it was a paint layer
. Don't get though why you leave out, you had something going... you just needed to get going in the program ![]()

sudhansujena - thanks.
hulahuga - yeah. i must admit you were rigt . at first i didnt even knew where to look for those paint layers . yes, i had something going, but i somehow lost passion for it. i entered it just for fun to test new software cause i realy like mud's painting options. its realy good for textures. and i thought sculpting with it would be great too. well its good but Z is way better now with is FREE options like retopology, and FREE plugins and ofcourse rich variety of brushes and mesh transform functions. i realy dislike the fact that i must get some 3'rd party topology generator like topogun or other. i saw some polyboost options for retopology in max2010 but have never used it and dont think its realy effitiant and time saving function there. and mud gives me not much of a control of my entire sculpt. being such a big player in the industry , autodesk should create plugins like gomax to conect its products for better performance of multiple apps in pipeline . but the main killer of interest to this contest is atmosphere. people are little weird and cold there. they dont socialize there and dont give much of a crit or any feedback. if you are new and want some atention you must star with a supper submition from the first moment. it feels like its realy a war betwien them there . but its only my point of wiev and i could return to it after holydays. time will tell ![]() |

Zbrush has a lot of functions that enables it to be more stand alone, that's true
. But mudbox is built (thus far, which I do hope they change) to work together with other programs... And I do like how many plugins and such that you can find for zbrush even though I don't like the way it handles perspective and camera movement...And yeah people are almost too serious over at the hub, and the good ones got all attention (even though I must say that I only saw like 3-4 really good works going ).

hulahuga - mud is competiteble only with maya. sad but i dont own maya
but some day i'll buy it. about this contest i allready know the winner. its going to be blaze or bret sinclair. their concepts are the most original and best developed. ok. back to my progress. been playing with eye for this wampire zombie stuff creature. trying to get the shader right. for now its only a low res textures. about 300x300. for final i'll make a decent texture and a decent bump map for it. |

Remember to make the iris a bit different from the white...
![]() contest: I thought sandpiper was on to something as well , you know teh giant turtle barbarian?mb: well I know for sure Wayne uses 3dsmax and mudbox... There is a plugin called mudwalker that you can use to export/import everything very simply to tons of programs...

i definately will
yeah. sandpaper has a awsome one but it doesnt have this preasence like them two. you know, this cool factor. turtles look cool only as ninjas , but its going to be in top 5. about this mudwalker - i totaly forgot about it. its a cool plugin. better han gomax. if its true what wayne shows in his videos. i'll give it a try. starting to get this inspiration for this contes again . had a rest for a few days so life is beautifle again . will try to get my self to finish it. but first i'll try somethig for retopo. |

so had my usual evening sketch and this time it was a sci-fi wariors turn to have sum atention
it isnt the best hard surface sculpt but i thinkit'll do just fine. after retopology i'll drop it to max for final refinement anyway most of the holes will be conected by pipes. |

Did you use just a sphere for the eye?
You should model the lens, iris, etc seperately and add some refraction to the lens. |

ParanoidDomo - thanks man.
bb0x - no. it has everything modeled. i overlooked the eye and found a dumb mistake - i acsedently switched shaders for objects so i have a lower part shader on the part where it should be transpearent and so on . |
