Got some more. All it's missing now is the cockpit rollcage or whatever you call it and the tubes.

Pretty cool
The last time I used lego was like 15 years ago when my bro smashed a giant space ship I constructed over a month. I bit his face. In your render make sure you are using reflection occlusion. The wheels are reflecting brighter than the ground plane beneath them which needs to be fixed. Use an occlusion (dirt map in vray) in the reflection slot and it will behave physically correct then.

Yeah, that should do it. Don't know when I have time to work on it again, but this'll be the first thing I'll get started on then.

I made a larger render a while back, it's the size of my desktop, guess what my wallpaper is right now...
All I need to add are the tubes, which I will do right now and maybe play around a bit with the lighting and shaders. On that note, does anybody know a good shader for Lego pieces? Right now I use a standard material, the colors I got from the official Lego color chart at peeron.com. All the pieces are also reflecting a bit, except the tires. The steering rig also works right now. With many thanks to JoeLaFrite ![]()

I'm happy I could help a bit
![]() About the shaders, if you use v-ray, pull down the refl. glossiness value to something like 0.65 and add a bit of subdivs to increase the quality of the material. The colors you'd set up are great (peeron is THE ref for that) ! Great work ! (maybe a little video to see everything animated ? ) |

Well, still gotta work on those tubes. I tried using a Spline IK Solver, but that didn't really work. Maybe I'll try something involving bones. Anyway, here's the wires. And the statistics. Just thought I'd throw it in as well.

for the tubes, i suggest you to use Hose objects.
Here is a video tutorial of Needse that shows how to do (replace the cylnder connectors he is creating by points you'll place at the right place) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQUABXSNLm8 Last edited by JoeLaFrite007; 27-02-2011 at 01:51 AM.. |
