New character project

Hi All,
Ive been thinking of a new long term project. Its got characters and robots. so both soft and hard modeling.

I was wondering, I might want to animate this at somepoint, defo wanting to rig and pose them. So.....If I have a guy or woman character with cloths that I want to react to their movement I need to model their full bodies right?

Also with the cloths, Im guessing you dont model in creases and stuff if its going to animate like cloth?

Hope that makes sense

Cheers

Well, you off course have to model the parts of the body where the clothes have to interact with. If you will only show a characters legs, you only have to model the legs and the pants, not the upper body. If you want to show them as a whole person, you model everything.

If you want to use cloth simulation (like 3DMaxes Cloth) you model the clothes separated from the body. And you don't have to model any creases no. If you do not want to use Cloth modifier but, for instance, Skin Wrap, you can model the clothes as separate objects, but you might want to add some extra detail to it to make it look more natural.

Hope this helps.
Good luck.
