Unhappy [Maya] Rendering Clouds(Fluid) and Shadows

Hey all wise and noble men ( and women ? )

Im rendering out a little heavy scene here, just of a tank nothing too fancy but seem to run into a snag.

The Fog on the floor like , mist or what ever u wanna call it is not accepting shadows from anything , its having the same uniform colour all the way through and is making the whole scene looking a little weird. Can anyone please help me here ?

MR ( Physical Sun and sky )
Maya 2011
Fluid is one of the fluid examples ( Igloo and snowy blizzard ) adapted.

also , general crit on the scene would be nice too

Thanks

and yes i know i built a tank -.-
