Descendants: the Legacy

Hi!
Me and my bro (enDu) started making a game demo as a personal project. We're both new to low poly stuff, so I don't know how this will turn out, so please don't be too harsh

More details as we go on (or just ask if you're curious)

Here is the official blog if anyone interested, but you will probably most always find detailed work in progress here.

Here is my start:
We don't actually have a poly limit, but I try keeping it as low as I can for now.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!
Thanks for your interest

Andrei

hmmm...fresh meat! :P jk. Seeing forward to the growth of your project.

For now, things are too simple to comment on, however, i suggest you post up some wires. What engine are you guys using for this?

Well, we aren't good at coding, so we are looking for programmers still. We currently have someone but he is inexperienced and learning as he goes with us. Engine isn't decided yet (any would do for me, really) but will most probably be a free one like: Ogre3D, Irrlicht Engine, Esenthel Engine, Crystal Space, Delta3D, Microsoft XNA and so on. We also considered using a commercial one like Unreal.

All in all, we are aware a game is a lot of work to do and for now we want to get as close to it as possible, even if we end up doing just the models and a basic engine lightning.

As regards engines id recommend UDK (unreal engine).
It costs money ti licence and sell games but not as much as Unreal Engine 3.
and UDk actually has improved features over UE3.
I used UE3 (and I still use it for rendering) and its really powerful and theres a lot of packages implemented into it.

Hey Krallis, but is there a free licence for non-commerical use? Just demo our work for now ^^. Thanks.

I figured I should post my progress on my character so far since Freeloader is doing it.

Sorry for the big images.

Yeah, UDK is completely free unless you want to sell the game.
www.udk.com

Can you tell us more about this character or the game in general.

Im fairly certain that it only costs if your planning on making it commercial.

"Experience the power and potential of Unreal Engine 3. Create amazing games, lifelike scenes and fantastic worlds...
for free."

Actually, our programmer was planning to use Ogre3D and turn it in a game engine; I recommended he'd used UDK but he said it has its own programming language and wasn't happy about learning it rather than coding in C.
We don't plan to sell the game, hell we're not sure we're gonna reach commercial quality with this, but I guess there's a certain safety and liberty when building on open source software. I realise Ogre's capabilities are incomparable with UDK, but for now it's OK.

Thanks for the feedback. Updates hopefully soon

I've no idea if it's illegal to post on a thread from last year. But here it goes
We've finally found a programmer. Though our time is limited since we still have to finish our last year project and graduate, this project is not dead.

Just a quick picture of finished her:
I still need to retopology her to low-poly version and then of course rig and texture. I have little to no ideea how on earth I'll manage to do so.

More pictures on request as I'm not planning to take over the forum in big pictures.

Kind Regards,
endu
