I prefer a concept too but it always looks so dreadful (proportionwise mainly) i can never model from it, and only take the concepts form the concept (if that makes sense).
As I speak im working on a concept for the head.

For proportions you can do a lot worse than knock something up out of zspheres - they make it very easy to make large changes to body shape very quickly - you can also bind the resultant polymesh to your zsphere rig to allow the same sort of changes while sculpting.
Step1 is always back of a fag packet scribbles though |

This is all ive got for tonight.
I stopping for tonight because ive got school tomorrow :P But once ive got the base down im going to do a paintover in PS. The head is a helmet made of bone, theres a bone collar on the armour. And the wings are not built into the armour, the are part of the organic creature at the heart of it. Anyway im thinking big claws on the arms. And for the legs im not too sure yet. Will possibly offset the hips, as on this http://rpggamer.org/uploaded_images/vasudan.jpg (even though the general consensus is that they resemble fish most)

His bicep looks like a balloon, it needs fixing. Also just noticed his arms are too short or his legs are too long. Since I can't see where his ****** is its hard to say. It's probably best to make his arms longer though. (Cro tch is censored?) Krallis - I probably wouldn't use that image as a reference, it has lots of anatomical flaws. Your best bet in my opinion is to merge human anatomy with that of a bird. If you want to use it for colours/textures that'd be a different story. Anyway slow update here worked a bit on the legs and torso up to its pects. edit- The lower half of the body is around 550 tri's atm. Last edited by bb0x; 23-11-2010 at 10:16 PM.. |

Dack: your posted image looks like it has some good thoughts into it, however, you totally rushed the legs and feet. Take a few moments to browse around google images and find some legs/feet that you feel would fit on your guy and explore some profile and front images in order to get a good feel of how you want to push forward with it.
Even if you don't post your studies on the forums, it's a good idea to get yourself prepared. I usually fail at this step, but it's always good to know that you should be doing it. Poopipe: Here's the page his post is on Dog of war

Thanks for the input will need to adjust the legs I was rushing to get the idea down to show to everyone.Would you recommend making a style sheet for this character? It would make the modeling process faster right?

Having proper reference will always help you make a better model imo. Instead of guessing where to place what muscle look at a picture and 'copy' it. The proportions look pretty good, you could try to make the legs longer though. Last edited by bb0x; 23-11-2010 at 10:56 PM.. |
