Hey hardtack, welcome to the comp', it's not late yet! I hope you'll show us some nice piece, but I'm sure I won't be disapointed knowing your art.
![]() Rabbitshell, like posing and dynamic of your second one. Boco, thanks for constructive comm', I've still got some more onto this one, depth background, depth fog, more details, colors, all will contribute to the focus... You've got some nice tones feeling, and I completly agree with you about their importance on a composition. I also agree with Hula about arms size, one seems really bigger than the other one. Keep it up man, hope we'll see some interesting background too. vnmribaya, thanks, hope we'll see you during the comp' man? I remember somes of your crazy and awesomes concepts. ![]() migroe and prosn, you've already submit? Some additional days left can be nicely used you know. oMg my 1000th post, and not even some nice pick with it, what a lazy man...

Rabbitshell - Nice style there! You should take care with giving the limbs especially the arms too much curvature though...

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I think I'm almost done now, except for some rendering on the back corpses.
I'm not really sure if I want a detailed background though. I quite like the fact that the surroundings aren't really defined. Maybe I'll boost em up with some silhouettes though. |

I reversed my steps a bit and got rid of the fire. I found that they got the attention away from the general and that they made the corrupted look more like a hell-spawn than an organic army of corpses. Still it wasn't an entirely pointless experiment cause I kept some of the warm tones to contrast with the blue bounce-light from the surroundings.

You could have hooks or something linking him to the chains... Or perhaps someone grabbing his shoulder, basically just something that furthers the expression of them being his army

M_Cederstrom i've been watching your progress and one thing always bugged me, it's the head. Maybe it's meant to be so strechy but heres a suggestion.

Today I had some time to work on it a bit more, thanks for your comments.
Hula, I lowered the soldier line: was a good idea, I also tried to get some more depth and focus, next is the gun, some small corrections and submit. The thing attached to her boots is some kind of counter-shock/absober (against shooting back).

Washka - Way cool, looks a lot better, make it look like the hover ghostlike a bit more, perhaps some blue twirls and smoke, get crazy with your custom brushes
![]() vnmribaya - Cool shapes going on in his armor, but you do notice that his left arm is going backwards...? ![]()

Guess I'm almost done (apart from some touch-ups and a bit of background work). I decided to go for the fire after all.
Because I was changing my mind all the time I made list with pro's and con's for the hell-spawn. Pro fire is that the overall piece is a better eye-catcher than without it, so if only for marketing reasons, the fire is a great argument. Secondly, it also gives a lot of space to work with color-contrast. Con: without the fire the army feels much more organic and down to earth. Based on that (and vnmribaya opinion) I feel like I'm making the right decision. |
