my problem is that i render with mental ray i use mental area spot lights
and mr ambient occlusion for quick result and becouse.. let's just say i'm not a render specialist.. and it's simple for presenting your model. but i can slightly see the wireframe on my model but don't know what's causing it

I see you changed them, last pictures you had showed little tiny dots around the model but this was probably something with the AO. Anyway I really like your modeling skills, hope to see some updates soon!

didn't have much time this week but during the weekend i'm planning to continue again.
i had some spare time this friday evening so i made the placeholder model for her sniper rifle and figured out how it's gonna look like in compact mode. since it's kinda too long for her to carry..
the scope is built in, and there's a holder at the top to carry the weapon
anyways i should find out the helmet now, how it's gonna open, coz i'd like to show the characters face. otherwise she whouldn't look interesting at all.

here is a little vid about the rifle changing to compact mode:

Looks like somethign out of Mass Effect.
In particular the M92 mantis.

Great stuff though, keep it up.

i can't hide it
my idea came from mass effect, yes
i'm a huge mass effect fan and i wanted to make a similar weapon. my version of it if you like
now i'm workig on the high poly modelling for the weapon and then move on to the helmet high poly. placeholder model and helmet opening animation are finally finished for the helmet

1st of all: Happy New Year for every one! I hope everyone is gonna have a great year a really successful and rich one

I have a little update on the high poly modelling. The weapon and most of the helmet parts were made before christmas, then i spent few days at home to have a rest and get drunk :P but before yesterday i got back to work coz the time when i can spend time on what i like without being tired of work at company worths gold
I've worked on the helmet and face recently.. i'm pretty slow so obviously i'm not going to finish it before dw starts as i planned.. anyway i enjoy this project, even if the result is not special at all so i decided not to rush instead i'm gonna finish it after the dw main challange.
To cut the long story short: here are my wip shots:
(i'm gonna upload videos about the opening animations later when i call the high poly modelling finished)

Great modeling skills you have there! Did you sculpt the face?

thanks ParanoidDomo i'm not too happy with it though.. i couldn't really made the forms very interesting. as i said before i'm not too good at designing things by myself from zero. but with a work like this one forces my brain to do it

the head was sculpted in zbrush yep the base model was what you can see in the helmet opening vid (in my opinion base model for a head can be any head with a good topology if you sculpt it).. to say the truth i had very few oportunity to create female characters (at least female head and face). with few i mean like 5 or less and none of them were nextgen so i should develop myself in this area too..

Nice work man! It's a warming for next war? Wow, you're already quite serious, I wonder what it'll be on the battleground.
Good luck!

again a little update..
i was very lazy on the 1st week of the year so i only worked on this week.
some tweaking on her face since it was somehow not alive maybe it's better and i finished the helmet. now i'm working on her torso and then go back for the weapon which looks really weak now and continue with the other parts
(later gonna go back for the leg as well it needs some advancements)
