i'm sure there's an easier way to do it, but why don't u just animate the wheels seperatly? give them 2 rotation keys, one for the 1st frame and on for the last - and rotate them 360 degrees (or 720, or 1080, it's just that a multiple of 360 sends them back to the same spot, so if u have a loop it look nice) and link them to the car. so their path will be determined by the car's animatin keys, whereas their rotation will be self determined.
no?

animate the wheel moving for one rotation, then in track editor copy and paste it over and over and it will repeat the rotation over and over. Make sure that you don't copy the last frame because it will judder, its in the 3dmax help files for...some tutorial i can't recall but its there. then link the whell to the car, it will take its movment from the car and its rotation from the rotation track you have asigned it.
Peace out T EDIT: Not in the help files sorry, in the tutorials Start>...>3dstudio>tutorial refence or something else somewhere. EDIT2: if you mean how do you set up keys in the firsts place, hit auto key, move to the end of the rotation using the slider then roate the wheel. you'll see two red keys appear. turn off auto key and yo will have 1 rotation, then see above. there are other ways to do things, probibly better ways, but this is quite simple way.

If you want a script to rotate the wheels based on the distance that each of them are moving (so they rotate the right amount each frame no matter what speed they're going), I made one a while back.
I think i posted it in the scripting forum.. |
