San Juan
Hi! Im trilled to present my new image.
It has passed a while since I've made a full 3d image and the craving was killing me, I think I haven't started to work in it because the inspiration never got to me, until one day I took a look around and realized that I wanted to do what I was looking at… The inspiration came from a very big public market from the city I live in, San Juan de Dios it's called, I didn't wanted to copy it, just to be the inspiration for my image. This gig took me around 3 months using my free time, it was a lot more than I thought because there are many elements involved, hundreds of them in fact, never really realized how much work it would take. I experimented with many stuff in here, the image started in MentaRay and half the way I decided to change to Vray, LOL, thousands of proxies, rigid body dynamics, many lights, millions of polygons (172 mill to be precise) and a 5 hours render to make it possible. Now I'm working on a series of video tutorials (2 hours long) detailing the complete process to make San Juan. pliz visit my website for more info about San Juan Image

I adore this! The feel is great, it reminds me of my past ventures to markets in Mexico.
You should be truly proud! Your hard work was worth this image ;D |

Real stunning work. How many times did your computer crash while rendering it?
Amazing details. |

That is amazing work!
Only on the close up on the apples can I see a bit more work could have gone into the finer details. It gives a very warm atmosphere off, which is always a good sign, even if it is derelict with no sign of anything going on action wise; it works basically. As an image, it is amazing. The over exposure on the highlights outside sell it. They could be seen as overpowering, but they are not the first thing you look at. What you do see however are the subtle reflections caused by the light outside. If the strong light sources were on the left hand side of the image, I would of had something to crit. Well done! EDIT: Can you tell us why you decided to switch from Mental Ray to Vray mid way through? Not asking because I disagree with you doing that, but just wondering why, you, as the artist decided to switch?

You do, but it saves memory because it's basically using the same instance to make loads of others
