3DTotal Partners with Conceptart.org Against Piracy
Hi All,
As from the 10th Jan 2011 3DTotal have partnered up with Conceptart.org to take a stand against the piracy of our products. First and foremost I want to thank our legitimate customers. You have enabled 3DTotal.com and our staff to be in business for 10 years allowing us to bring you the best possible services and products within our means. Now onto the pirates! We re-invest nearly all our income back into 3DTotal and into developing the website and bringing free and commercial services to the community. If there wasn't any piracy the site would be at least twice as good as it is now. The free services would be amazing and the free resource libraries would be huge. We also wouldn't have the stress of trying to cover the staffs wags bills each month, and we could employ more in-house and external freelancers (of which one day, one of these could be you). Piracy really is a huge problem for us and we have to try to do something about it, if it gets worse it could bring us down and a lot of people would lose their jobs and the community would lose a great site and all of our products. Do you really want to have contributed towards this? I appreciate some people can't afford our products but that is why we provide free tutorials and resources every week and also have very cheap products such as a 160 page magazine for $4. So from this date on we are going to take a very firm stand against piracy and fight it with various methods, including any users found to be illegally uploading and downloading our products will have their identities made public in these forums in a similar way as ConceptArt.org do as you can see here It is very sad that we have to do this and we really hope we can turn this situation around to bring you a much better site and services whilst providing even more employment for the CG community. If you have illegally downloaded any or our products please purchase them now in our shop and if you have uploaded any to torrent sites please remove them now, we really need your support. Attached is a similar statement that will be published in the Jan 3DCreative and 2DArtist magazines. Many thanks Tom Greenway Owner/Founder 3DTotal.com Last edited by simon-3dt; 11-01-2011 at 03:56 PM.. |

Hope this will help you catch them. of course it dont stop all the illegal downloading, but it sure is a way to the goal.
It really sucks that people don't understand the diffrence between whats theirs and whats others. Im with rocneasta on that one, What can we do to help the community. Because as you said i already think both yours and conceptart.org's products are cheap, and that you get a great amount of hard work for that price. BTW: im about to write a pretty big review of, Digital Painting Techniques: Volume 2. i bought it a while ago, Great work with that one. im not sure when i can have it up, but hopefuly very soon ![]() |

Nice, this partnership will hopefully make things a little bit better
![]() What we members could do to help is to report any sightings of illegal uploads to the 3DTotal staff so that they can be removed. Also pleading to the uploaders might help a bit, some actually have hearts ![]() |

Thank you. It is important to note that the anti-piracy efforts of conceptart.org have been 99.9 percent successful. Those who pirate CA content are easily caught. Had CA implemented these measures a year prior we would literally have no videos out in the torrents. The reality is that piracy almost put CA out of business for good. As in kaput, done, dead, bankrupt. All that knowledge. All that information...gone for good. That is what Piracy does when the business depends on products sold to support it. Many argued that CA could not stop it's piracy problem, but it has. And it is the single most effective program out there. The simple fact is, careers are on the line. There were suggestions to do advertising, give away the product for free, forget it...none of those things were as effective, helpful, or giving to the community as making more super affordable content. 3DTotal does a phenomenal service to the entire 3d audience as well as the 2d artists out there. We are lucky to have a place like this and that is why CA has chosen to help. Piracy must stop. It is just the way it has to be. Thanks to the technology, relationships, and experience in place, it can be stopped and those who leak 3DTotal content to the torrent sites will be dealt with according to the law. I hate saying that...but what else can be said? The community must not risk it's resources by giving away that which makes things possible. To those who have been such a huge support of CA and 3DT over the years, thank you...tremendously. You are a reason why others can learn, be promoted, find jobs and share art, and why it is so easy for you to learn nowadays too. Thank you. Im glad you guys are doing something about the piracy problem. I love 3dtotal and CA hope you guys can stay around. For the price of what you guys ask for your videos and other things its a killer deal.

Tom, we are totally with you on this !
Piracy is a very important concern and too many take it lightly, but our whole industry is being affected by the huge amount of illegal files that is being shared. At Di-O-Matic, we develop character animation software and plugins for more than 10 years now and like 3Dtotal, if our products would always be used in a legal way...well we would have develop even cooler technologies and solution for everyone to enjoy. But the reality is that piracy is killing many players in our industry. Here is a small notes to users of crack version of our tools: http://www.di-o-matic.com/crack/ Support the CG industry! Don't use cracks. Laurent M. Abecassis Founder @ www.di-o-matic.com |

White text on a red background... it was painful to read. It's like burned into my retina, I can't blink it away and if I look at anything white, its there.
I fully support what you're doing but maybe you could do it without murdering my eyesight in the process! Anyone brave enough to transcribe it into a normal format?# Sorry to jump in on your post, but we have just changed it now, thanks for pointing out how bad the first one was! I think our retinas burnt out a while back..I have also typed this in a calming blue colour for you, cheers Tom
