Rendering/Texturing technique

Hello peeps :-)

I'm very curious to find out how one goes about creating this style of render. I know its created in 3dsmax/mentalray but how do you get that drawn stylised effect? Do you think maybe its done in post-photoshop? Are there any tuts out there covering this style?

Are you talking about the studio setup?

There are many tutorials on how to create a studio setup render on the web, it is really quite easy, however to get a believable image you need to get the materials right and that is difficult.

best way to get his attention is to start a piece and post a WIP up in the right category..

It could be a good start to use an orthographic camera, so as to remove the perspective. That seems to be what has been done for that render.

It looks like whoever rendered that image used two lights, I could be wrong though. (maybe three to light up the background.

Try point lights (rectangular shape) or mray skyportals. They really do work best for these types of things.

I hope people here who can produce good looking renders could help us one day, but that's never going to happen. Try the plethora of tutorials on the 3dtotal homepage, some good stuff there as well.
