Endr, not sure if you are PC admin, but if you are and where to drop a nuclear warhead up in our grizzles and Pit PC vs 3DT I'd happily not enter D-War so....
I'm not saying it has to be "cross forum" in an organisation sense but maybe those entering can choose a forums logo to represent. It would be the exact same except you would just need to code in some logo dinger.

to be honest, polycount is not the competition, there are several other forums that we need to keep an eye on. We also need to get a translator while we are at it.
and, it's all about the triangles. That's how champs roll. |

There's more to it than just the typical start up delays. It took over a year to announce the Unearthly Challenge winners and I think some of the winners of DW2 and 3 are still waiting for their prizes. That's disrespectful to keep people in limbo that long and damaging to the creditability of the contest. The prizes never matter to any serious competitor and every winner always said "thanks but I can do without these, its just fluff". Prizes have been the single most important thing that has caused delays and sunk DW year after year. If they don't matter why have them? If you offer them, you should deliver in a timely manor. Don't promise things you can't deliver. The lack of communication, every year we have to rely on rumors rather than straight up posts. You would think DominanceWar.com would be the place to get the latest breaking news but its normally some back water thread on GA posted on behalf of fred, or a rumor winding its way around that fred finally steps out from behind the curtain and says "yea what you think has been happening for the last 4-5 days/weeks is true". The lack of accepting help when so many people are offering it. It is also disheartening to see those kind of opportunities slip away. It's too much for one guy, ok I get it, then say yes to people offering help. I won't even bring up the judging and then subsequent rejudging of the Comic Con challenge on top of delays. oops just did... How about the changing of the rules after the fact so rights to images posted belong to GA and can be sold to help support GA. Sign up under specific terms, then under the cover of darkness the rules change. When asked about it the answer is "screw em if they don't like it tough, drop out". "Whats the reason?" "screw you I'm not saying" "ok what do we tell the angry wall of artists?" "I said tough tacos, tell em that" "ok..." It's always been a bit weird how tight GA is tied to DW, it should of broken off long ago but instead it still uses large chunks of GA and with the opaque way things get handled it casts doubts on the ability of DW to stand on its own. So DW supports GA and no matter what happens GA wins financially but prizes and judging gets screwed over? Other forums pour their time and talent into the competition, other forums have huge spikes in bandwidth to cover because of DW do they see any compensation? Nope... Fred's internet is out, ok I can cut the guy some slack disasters happen, but the system is only set up to be controlled by one person from one location? Wow... Shouldn't there be some kind of remote setup like 99% of sites with multiple people able to jump in and help out? I can understand this stuff happening the first year, even the second year but on the 5th after a shut down and reboot of the contest system? Come on... have some respect for the people entering. A lot of people try to re-plan their lives around this stuff so they can take part, stop jerking them around. ![]() Pretty much this: http://www.dominancewar.com/2010/en/article_5.php

This is my first DW and i must admit, my mouse clicking fingers are itching to push and pull some verts (maybe even extrude a poly or two)...all this drama surrounding DW is inspirational. PC dropping out, forums getting tea-bagged, Fred's interwebs going down. Whats next? Neo and Spock team up to fight Skynet?
No matter how this plays out, my only wish is to take part in a challenge where i can push my skills in friendly competition against talented artists worldwide. Be it DW or something put together by Threedy. Some people take these things wayyyy tooo seriously. The whole point here is to have fun and get better as artists. A few delays wount kill anyone. |

PC is really stupid, i think so but i'm really sad they quit.. it's like Ferrari quited from Formula 1
they are a strong opponent in DW and a strong opponent is always inspiration.. after so many dealays i've lost most of my mood for the battle.. to participate in DW but now i'm thinking i may not take part in this either. at least i'm thinking on it. i'm not sure it would be as much fun after all :S btw shouldn't PC finish DW coz they participated in the Pre DW? how could they just quit now??! it's stupid! and why forcing their own community to move on to other forums if those guys would like to participate in DW, making them suffuer just becouse PC wants to have their own contest?? i bet they are pretty much affraid DW would reduce of their contest's fame. i mean really! this is not even stupid it's a coward act.. sorry they just point their nose up in the air and say "we can do a better contest by ourselves" while admitting infront of everyone that they are affraid they couldn't it's the PC stupid riot thing all over again Last edited by tsabszy; 13-03-2011 at 02:14 AM.. |

PC made their choice after a serie and an accumulation of events, their patience and consideration dropped to zero, and it seems quite understandable.
Is it good choice? I don't know. Do I give a ****? Yeah, it's sad, any quite experienced forum is full of valuable opponents. Will they change their opinion if in a few days or next week DW finally starts??? I don't know, they could, but people are proud, I can just hope they'll change their mind and join, only stones never change their opinion. One of my personal interest in the DW contest it's that the challenge evolve between different forums, that's one of the important part for me. Should we follow PC because they had enough? I got patience, I know it's hard and that we could be waiting for nothing but I'm still in. Am I stupid? Maybe, maybe not, that's a personal choice. I think that DW organizers will fight if they got problems with the launch, and I think I can wait a few days some news about it, launch or not. 4:24 am here, I go sleep, gn8. |

In light of recent news I'm personally not entering D-War.
Partly due to patience, partly due to Fred dissapearing but MOSTLY due to GOOD reasons I can't say. Please also understand I respect Fred's passion for the competition and weather it's anyone's fault or not it doesn't matter at this point to me anymore. Good times ahead guys!
