Modeling topology...

in efforts to get us all back on the right path, inorganic and organic wise i'll post some of my topology problems...

perhaps we can just stack the questions in this thread, concerning topology issues.

I modeled a tire iron, but i'm having a problem terminating some edges - not getting things i want. Any help?

i got twice as much edges outside to make a circular profile but inside i need to have an ngon

I'm not sure if I got it right but I think this is what you want:

-Create a cylinder with 6 edged, this is gonna be the inner part.
-remove the front face and flip the normals of the whole mesh.
-Bevel/Chamfer the 6 edges as shown in the picture.
Your cylinder now has 12 edges around.
-then spit the 6 long edges, so not the beveled/chamfered ones.
Your cylinder should now have 18 edges around.
-Create the other part with a cylinder with 18 edges.
I had to rotate my cylinder 90 degrees so I could make a nice bridge.

and that should be it I think.

I just saw you used 5 edges >.< Let me try again and see if it works...

What about this? Same process as I described earlier but then make the first cylinder 5 edges round and instead of spiting the edges in half use thirds so you would need 20 edges for the second cylinder which I had to rotate 9 degrees to make a nice bridge.

I know 20 edges isn't ideal to work with either but the process of using this way is very quick.

yea this should work, but wondering how will split work with turbosmooth. interesting approach. tnx for the input

just wanted to post the way to cap a hemisphere (circle...) / by bridging and not border/cap. Also how to make a future topology for a hole or a cylinder form that can be a part of it after extruding edges.
