Really like the bridge sketch. The dragon guy has a few lighting/shadow issues for me but is well drawn. I'm having difficulty working out if the glow from his mouth is supposed to be casting light or not as all the shadows appear to come from a single source and none of the shadows appear to be cast from the closer glowing dragon

All three are awesome, each at its level. I agree with Perversonality that the demon/dragon guy needs more like on his face from the source in his mouth/eyes. I'm curious how the sketch on the tower will evolve. The bridge thumb is very realistic. Nicely done!

Like your studies man, bridge and mountain.
Tower is taking shapes nicely but dragon there is messing with the interesting details from it (from your line sketch), I would add more space around the whole image and put the biggest front dragon quite lower and more to the right.

Tower already starts to look wicked. Washka has a point about it but if this is done for a card or some such, I guess the composition is established by the client. I have to say your studies look awesome. There's an air of freedom and relaxation about them I know an artist has only when he's not bound by rules and description and just creates as he feels.

just love #16 , iwas wondering what all naruto could do if he could make rasengan like that ;D
@#20 though i agree with both AV and washka , i think the foreground dragon either needs to be in climbing upward motion or his foreshortening needs a couple of tweaks here and there. and yeah the horns ond the terrace corners should act like astral tesla coils ![]() Last edited by aby arty; 05-10-2011 at 05:58 PM.. |

Getting nice man, like the wet effect on base pillars.
Background top right corner, if this one is 30% lighter, tower'll detach better and'll get "highter" and more "menacing". But if it's a dark tower (because imo it seems some kind of magic arcane dark tower) I would think about it twice (or just 15% lighter). About bottom right pillars, they could have a yellow backlight coming from inner light source of the tower (coming from windows). It's a magus calling dragons on top of it? I'm not busy enough, no work... you're lucky man.

Working for a TCG/RPG Company Part 1.
washka, Thanks for the tips, definitely will make the changes and Yes its a magus at the top calling the dragons, i haven't work on it yet, but hopefully will be obvious
![]() Friends, i got cool news, AEG (Alderac Entertainment Group) let me post up a Process of working with them from Descriptions to sketches and Finals, i'll be making a small process for whoever would be interested in this type of field and wonders how it works. So lets start... Art Director:Murray Chu (Awesome & friendly guy) -- Art Description: A Goblin/orc on a deathtrap vehicle. Someone suggested a pogo stick, which is possible I suppose. My idea is a the orc sitting in a Catapult or one of those Angry Bird slingshots (however since we're focusing on the character, you'll have to draw it in a way where we don't see the whole thing but it's still obvious what it is). Don’t go for cute/silly, go for the Uruk-hai from LotR, only crazy enough to ride a deathtrap as long as it gets to kill things faster. -- I was pretty much overwelmed and excited with this description so i went to do some thumb sketches based on the description: ![]() I had 2 main images in my head and experimented with a last 3rd one just to see what else i could do, the first 2 thumb sketches came out pretty close to what i had in mind but the third experimental one i left it very rough as i knew it wouldn't be used (you can barely see the face and main character characteristics). The 3 main factors i had in mind when creating the thumbs were: 1-Movement. 2-Composition. 3-Dinamic/ wow Factor. Sent this thumbs to the AD and waited in prayers that everything was in place (don't understimate this part )Gladly the AD was more than happy and suggested that i would add more metal scraps to the Catapult and weapon too to give a more orc-ish feeling to it. So that's where i am now, Im wanting to do a time-lapse video of the final painting, don't know if anyone is interested? This is the end of part one, i'll updating as i go and compile everything on my blog, i never really did a process thing so.. if people are interested i'll continue ![]() |

Time lapses are always appreciated
.Good to see your progress man, really dig your style and I think you've developed your rendering technique quite a bit in the latter paintings!
