Started the model. Going to do all the detailing in Zbrush.
Critiques are welcome. The torch light in the mockup is not final yet. Sean |

Just thinking the space would look more ancient if I put a stone dome.

Need some help, I'm using Vray recctangle lights, I can't seem to get the columns to cast a shadow in the render. I'm using the Illumanence map for the primary engine and Brute force for the secondary engine. Shadows are turned on in the lights. I've tried to play around with the light multiplier, but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated. Sean Last edited by sean_rodrigues; 23-08-2011 at 05:27 AM.. |

well, you do have shadows, depending on how many light you have, the shadows are either gonna be strong or soft.
Show us the wire with light, we will be able to tell you the pb. other pb, we can see that you are using the same material for each column, try to change that |

Thanks Lebaje, I think I might have to paint the shadows into the textures.
The columns have the same material because I was doing a basic lighting pass. After the lighting pass I can go in and start texturing and substituting the low resolution geometry with the Zbrush sculpts. The Wire frame has not changed from the previous post.Thank you for suggesting the variation of materials. Thanks again for looking at my post. Sean |

This is what I am going to do withthe columns. Need to round out the corners of the columns; make it look weathers and eroded.

Lookup VRay volume light or VRay caustic light effect. Here's one example that should get you going in the right direction and there's lots more tutorials out there; http://www.vrayonline.com/vray/engli...me-effect.html

Ah, bummer... I'm using Maya Vray. Looks like Maya Vray 1.5 doesn't have the same lights as 3ds Max vray.
I'll just Photshop the shaft of light in. Hey, thanks again for the link Perversonality. And thanks for looking at my post. Sean |
