Hi everyone,

Firstly, to the mods/admins; I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place. I couldn't see a better place to put it, that's all.

I know you probably get these kinds of requests a lot, but here goes. I'm a musician and I'd love for someone to make an animated music for my concept EP (more details will be given to anybody interested).

You should know straight away that this is not paid. I'm as poor as they get, so I can't afford to pay someone to do this. I am, however, entirely happy for you to put your name and website at the end, or beginning, of the video.

Why should you do this? Well, I don't want to remain poor forever and I'm putting in 15 hours a day, every day, to make myself successful. The point is, I'm determined, and that means people are going to see this video. It'll be there forever, and when people see it, they'll see that you made it.

If anyone has questions, or is interested, then please reply. You should also know I know NOTHING about animation/CGI. It's much too clever for me

Clearly it's "too clever" for you. If you offer a percentage of any money you make then you might get some interest but trying to stand on the shoulders of giants for free is probably not going to gain much interest

No need for the sarcasm . I'd be more than happy to share any profits made from the video. I've just been told before that aspiring artists/animators etc can be interested in projects like this. Maybe I was mis-informed.

+1 for Perversonality, but i have a opinion about this collaboration betvien cg artists and a musicians(hope i spelled it rigt ).
JackJayEssay - well i get the point of your idea - i make you a awesome video and you make me a awesome music. thats cool, when you dont start to plan everything. well a normal sound track is about 3-5min in leangh and it requires about a weak to compose or mix a music. well, lets say a month for a cool song. but for a cgi 5min video for a 1 man it could take to a year to make. and i didnt even start about things like money that you need to live your life. i believe that you are a student now that you can spend 15hours a day to practise your stuff and i dont even believe in this number. but most of people here are men with jobs, families and their own needs and to spend our precious time for something that wont bring our homes bread and will take time we could spend to rest and do things we enjoy is not worth it.
so i would advice you not to ask for someone to make you a video but i would suggest you to offer your skill and talent to collaborate. most of us here have demo reels or other projects that require sound and good music . so cause you suck at cg and we suck at music we could help eatch other. "i give you my projects video - you make me a music" thats the deal that would beneffit both sides. both would use this as a comertial and send it to potential clients and both gets the credit for their work.

paulius explained things clearly, I hope you understand what he means, don't take it as a refusal.

Now something like 30 seconds could take a few month for a CG alone, but there is repetition in music and you can take advantage of this (re-using the same animation sequence with a few changes).

In your position I would try something like that into a collaborative with 2 or 3 others CG, or try to join an already started project that needs music (It'll be even better for you).

I think that what Perversonality said is not (completly) sarcasm, I think he was pointing the fact that an higher reward for the work you're asking for could attract more people, reward is not just money.
But I'm not sure because Perversonality is Perversonality.

You should give some links to your own composition work so people can hear it, that could help you, good luck onto your project.

RAAAAAAR!!!!!!!!!! I was merely making a point about how expensive this should be in terms of time for the animator vs the lack of any reward for doing so I guess I could have worded it slightly nicer, but then it wouldn't be me!
