buying legal copies
no, this isn't a "is it ok to have ilegal copies" thread.
does anyone know if it's legal to purchase a Max (or windows, or adobe, or whatever) liscence from another person and use that liscence? if i want to start a company, but don't want to fork over 3700 $ for max 5.1, but am willing to pay 1000$ for max 3.1. can i do this? is discreet ok with this? or, on the other hand, is there anyplace (Amazon or the like) where i can get 2nd hand software for cheaper prices? thanks, and yes, i'll try the discreet forum 2, but i trust the people here more... ![]()

well...could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that buying second hand adobe products is fine, if you check out ebay you'll find almost any adobe product you'll need...
i think max is a different story, i was lucky enough to win it so i cant relate to purchasing it. but i'm pretty sure discreet forbid the resale of they're products, or at least 3dsmax. windows...i wouldn't have the slightest clue about resale. :\

Yup I'm fairly sure discreet prohibit the reselling of liscences. I dunno about other companies, I guess it's their choice weather they allow it or not.

you could always become a student and get it for £125
That what i am paying for it... i emailed discreet to find out how much it would cost to buy as a student and that was the price they were'nt sure about MAX 6 though as it's not available yet.Mat...
