buying legal copies

no, this isn't a "is it ok to have ilegal copies" thread.

does anyone know if it's legal to purchase a Max (or windows, or adobe, or whatever) liscence from another person and use that liscence?

if i want to start a company, but don't want to fork over 3700 $ for max 5.1, but am willing to pay 1000$ for max 3.1. can i do this? is discreet ok with this?

or, on the other hand, is there anyplace (Amazon or the like) where i can get 2nd hand software for cheaper prices?

thanks, and yes, i'll try the discreet forum 2, but i trust the people here more...

well...could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that buying second hand adobe products is fine, if you check out ebay you'll find almost any adobe product you'll need...

i think max is a different story, i was lucky enough to win it so i cant relate to purchasing it. but i'm pretty sure discreet forbid the resale of they're products, or at least 3dsmax.

windows...i wouldn't have the slightest clue about resale. :\

Yup I'm fairly sure discreet prohibit the reselling of liscences. I dunno about other companies, I guess it's their choice weather they allow it or not.

you could always become a student and get it for £125 That what i am paying for it... i emailed discreet to find out how much it would cost to buy as a student and that was the price they were'nt sure about MAX 6 though as it's not available yet.

Mat...
