Hi, so I've been making a bit of progress before setting up this thread and am currently still concepting the design and forming it in my head.
My plan was to make a Protoss Zealot that wears dead zerg as trophy/armour/I'm really angry with zerg kind of vibe. After doing a bit of research I found out that theres a tribe of dark templars that already do this - so while my idea isn't unique or original, I still think it'd be cool to do and fun to work on.
While what classifies this particular guy as a 'hero' character is still in development - I have been working on a protoss basemesh which will be pretty much directed by blizzards current protoss units - but given a few little twists to separate him from the crowd.
Here's some progress...

Currently pretty happy with the progress so I guess I'll start building this guy in 3d. Weapon idea is still locked in my brainbox for now - I'll probably sketch it out this week.

My current concerns are that he's perhaps doesnt have the protoss futurist super race feel anymore, purely because he has no tech at all. However, I do know that this guy is REALLY ANGRY at zerg, and nothing else matters... he'll tear them apart with his bare hands if thats what it takes!

Oh, one last thing - the thing behind him that looks like a cloak is actually a hollowed out hydralisk head. Rip the jaw, twist it round and hang it over the shoulders and it becomes a pretty mighty piece of back armour. I'll try and make this clearer in the 3d model.

Been blocking out and working on a few bits... The hydra head looks a bit weird (as I suspected it might) so im going to trim and fiddle it a bit until it works - still hopeful. Heres the head:

little more progress, still deciding how to attach the crystal - did think about sticking it in him (Iron man stlye) - like its the source of his power.
Also thought about backstory / abilities a little. Hopefully theyll help me bring it all together as I continue.

Another thing that isn't clear from this angle is that when he charges at you head down 'beserk style' he looks mostly like a zerg unit, and his armour is mostly concentrated here as well so he can take attacks as he charges as well - this is part of his camoflage and how he can get up close and personal. His leg armour is more minimal, because generally hes going for speed and then he would leap at the enemy.

Anyone out there got a feedback? All crits welcome!

Still playing with shapes... Did a load of drapy cloth options, which looked really cool - but made him look more like a dark templar than a zealot.

As a side note, I've been building this guy with a bit of Starcraft gameplay in mind, so we will see the character from 3/4 top down more than straight on. This has affected a few decisions including putting the hydra head over his head.
See whatcha think...?
