yeah, this is just a base...there's NO detail on this guy at all yet...I'm just playing around with proportions and weight. I was quite worried about how the canisters would play out on his back...so I decided to make a 3D rough to make sure it all fits neat.

Once I get this down I will probably go back to the concepting stage to nail the fine details before going into 3D again. I think that I really want to nail the concept before moving onto 3D this time, I kind of got burned on the mini comp jumping straight to 3D and I have the time to get this concept right. Figured I'd do the hard yards now rather than flail at the end for ideas.

here is me playing around with proportions. basically theres a dwarf, a fun proportioned 'old man' trickster and your generic warrior scale. you may have to take a little bit of a leap for the final style as I will probably bulk each version up a bit to make him more 'solid' but I'm just looking at general proportions...or even style...at this point.

What do you think?

And here is a partial update...unfortunately work beckons.

This is the last stage before moving onto the actual model. I've gone through all of this concepting because I have a visual in my head I need to get out, and this is moving towards that. He's looking a little more badass now that he has a serious pose. I will see how 'finished' I will make this image depending on time.

Well the legs are there...I just haven't sketched em in yet...as I said partial work in progress From what I understand of the rules he HAS to have legs anyway doesn't he?? Being a Norm and all...

OK, here is the start of the shoes. I watched Sathe's Tutorials on inorganic modeling and it cleared up a few thing in regards to my subdivision modeling. Namely how useful chamfered edges actually are. Max 2009 has the ability to add edges inside a chamfer, which speeds that process up more too. Still a fair biut to go yet on these, but they are certainly taking shape.
