Yup, I'm definitelly one for beefy...I drew some details shots of the gloves and boots at work today. The backpack I think will still need some work on the ideas and how its all put together.

I think it'll be a mix actually...I want to get the magical robe element in as well. Something a little more 'natural' infused with hard metal armour. I'm also going to try and push a bit of a patched up mentality in that in post apocalyptic era the resources would be tight, so people have to keep materials going for as long as possible.

I think when I actually start texturing and zbrushing him the real idea in my head will come out. I've found that problem with this concept so far, it looks fantastic in my head, but so far he's looking kind of...clean, and a little simple...although as noted this main body so far is just a basic 'sketch' to get the proportions. I'll be building everything up similar to the boot probably. I like how that has turned out (so far).

Hopefully I can get what it is in my head out on the screen however.

And another small update. I'm getting faster at the subdivide/chamfered edges thing...but its so finicky! I have no idea how you have done so much in such a short time Sathe! Anyways, still all basics yet really, the shoes however are probably ready to head into Zbrush maybe. But I'll do all that together.

I'm happy with how the chain turned out. Thats low poly and uses a super small section of the UV as its tiled. I just wanted to try it out early on to see if I could do the idea that I was thinking with a 4 sided low poly and a super tight no free space high poly chain.

looking sweet, discmage. you should take a look at sathe's hard surface tutorial. i learned tonnes of it and you immediatly know why he's our local hardsurface-guru.

Thats why I started using this method, I did watch them. Just got to practice forever to get up to speed

I was originally going to use zbrush much more, but I think I have to agree that you should use whats best for the task...and in this case Zbrush wouldn't be that good until the final details of ALL the body, and then the head.

yup. zbrush, mudbox. they be great for details or organic stuff. inorganic is a pain with them tho.
