Looking good man, keep it up. Maybe some alpha usage would help when you are done with the big musle groups and large details. to help give you fine details. I like where this is going so far. Looking foward to seeing more updates.

Thats comin together pretty good, I like what you have going on with his arm. I also agree with Pickman, Id try adding more defined surface details to break him up a bit.

I think you need to REALLY push the crags. Find the roughest tree you can and then do MORE. So when it gets down to the normal it looks really punchy, craggy etc. You could possibly get a really rough bark texture, build an alpha off it and paint it on that way ??

Great concept though, and its really coming together

Thanks for all of the great comments guys! I've been working on cragging him up good and plenty and adding some details here and there to create variety and points of interest on the surface.

buzz001 - He actually has a shoulder pad and bracer on his right arm, I just omitted them so you could see the rest of the model for now. Also, his left arm will be covered in big thorns and some foliage.

I'll get some new pics up later.

Also, on another note, I am really tight on texture space as it is, so its very likely that he will have no weapon. I'm going to attempt to squeeze in a beefy-looking wood axe but it can't guarantee it'll fit.

Seems to me that the specs every year are a bit mis-matched.
Last year you had a 2048 texture but only something like 5k triangles. Too much texture for too few triangles.
This year you have 10k triangles, but still only a single 2048. Too many triangles for too little texture space.
But that's what we have. The Dude abides.
