It's too bad to hear that you're gonna strip off the back arms, to me that was one of the most unique features. Before reading that, I was gonna suggest you get some poses up to figure out what the arms would all be doing in your final pose.

If making a solid rig with all the arms is what's holding you back i'd say just not to worry about a 'real' rig. this guy just needs to be posed once for the competition. if you realy want him animatable worry about that after the 13th.

H2holt i'll try to make some render with and without backarms to see if they work

however i've finally completed the rig XD

Man the pose is gonna be sweet with such a nice rig setup.
You got quality work all around and with that Arc & Design shader coming up, I am anxious to see the results.

i'm still not really sure on the texturing, it seems to me that the specular isn't giving me enough maybe i'll tweak it a bit
at the beggining i was thinking of using photometric light, but since the tall of the character is too much, and i'm using max9 and do not have photographic exposure, i think i'll just use mr_area_light with inverse square attenuation

here are some render of some poses, i think i'll use something like the first(with different lights) in the beauty shot, and i'm searching for a good pose for the presentation shot, maybe it will be similar to the second one

this is with photometric lights+final gather with an HDRI(and take a while to render)


here there are just two mr_area_light (without casting shadows)


i'll post some other poses later, with the sword and without the backarms too, meanwhile any suggestion is really appreciated

and since it seems the right moment to say it, really good luck to everyone for your submission too ^_^

I'd like to see more dirt and distortion on his clothes etc... Atm it looks too clean in my opinion.

hi guys, since this are the last hours of war, i've think it's better post a little update, since my ideas are really confusing by now XD

i've added some scratches on the armor, and a little of bump in the skin
here is the armor


here are some render test of the character and the pedestal too
this will be probably the presentation shot


here is an image with the sword and without backarms


Sebiomegas, the pose is a little different, but i think it's still ninja style XD


and here is the image i'd really need a hand, this would be the beauty shot, for now the image is without shadows, and there's no motion blur on the rocks, i were thinking on some variation, like scaling the sign in the back a bit, to fit the area between the wings and zooming more on the character, and the image seems to much burned out as it is, so i was thinking on lowering the level of the particles and the lights
what do you think of it???

maybe crop the beauty test so it's not as wide. A little more specular on the skin might work, along with some variation in the tone.

I think your idea might work. To lower the light sounds good to me. But as I'm not an experienced 3d artist, I don't really know. The pedestal looks great and I like your ninja-like pose. Looks cool this way.
