DWIII - 3D - jonny3d

Hello all,

Really excited about this contest. I didnt participate last year because I didnt find out about it until it was almost over. I am thinking about creating either an artifact user in the Clericon or Stalker class. I quickly sketched some thumbnail silhouettes but plan to do some more before going into the refined drawing. Some of the thumbnails are simply junk that was in my head - like the lizard and vampire-like dude. Any suggestions or comments are definitely appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

I like the fourth one from the top left, if you were to really put alot of detail into his staff and make it as large as you have it there, it will definitely put some character into the subject. Good luck, waiting for more ^_^

Thanks for the comments setschaos. I agree with your pick of the 4th from the top. I spent some time tonight concepting out an alien race with this type of silhouette. I am still concepting so more detail will be added. i also need to spend some time on the staff. I think I'll give him a type of halbrid/studded mace hybrid with an encrusted jewel from which he draws his magic. Below is the concept so far - comments please.

newer concept

I decided to go with an egyptian themed sketch. Not finished as I want to include his staff/halbred as well as an amulet he wears around his neck. I may change his clothing a bit too - not sure if I like the robes or not. I'm also thinking about adding some tatoos on his face and body.

Update - finally!

I have finally had some time to put in some work on pushing the concept of the ancient Egyptian priest theme. With the suggestion of some friends I added a pet or familiar of a scorpion. The scorpion resides on the priests back by wrapping its legs around his torso. This gives the priest the advantage of having additional weapons (tail w/stinger and claws) as well as the protection the hard body of the scorpion provides for his back. The scorpion can also simply "let go" of the priests torso and attack on its own.
I hope to have the final concept posted this weekend.

Another update

Finally had some time to update my concept. i added the scorpion's claws and altered its proportions to better fit the priest. I'll probably jump into doing some low poly modeling in Max tonight.

Updates

Hey,

Im a little disappointed that I didnt finish this year. No excuses other than not enough free time to devote to the contest. I do plan to finish what I started however. I posted some WIPs from when I last posted. Good luck to all those who finished.
