I will try to keep my wireframes as software wireframes, i apologise, to be honest i forgot.

you're entries are great by the way, much better creativity and imagination than my entries.

I will try to make my entries with the proper wireframes, i simply forgot about the software render issue.

Sorry

Kind Regards

I'm not the one who should, but I am sure, that apology is accepted! That's the lesson for everyone.

Thanx very much.

Disqualifications

Hello everyone,

My PM inbox has been recently getting a lot of questions regarding the DQ's that have been posted at the end of challenge results. There are a few concerning file size, and a few concerning image size. So I thought that I would address them here so everyone may understand the logic behind the enforcement of the rules.

This is an excerpt from rule #1:
Quote:
...the idea of speed modeling is to simulate a "real world" environment. If you are working on a project and asked to show a concept model you'll need to be able to get somewhere near the target in the allocated time.
From the beginning, the SMC's have tried to simulate a "real world" environment. As if the Threedy forums were the client, and each member was a freelance artist trying to beat out all the other artists for a job. (But instead of getting a job, you get a nifty Total Textures CD/DVD instead.) There are many reasons why a client may have certain guidelines in place when looking for a potential artist, one of which is just to see if the artist has the ability to follow simple instructions. Another use of the rules are to use them as guidelines in which Threedy will use to keep all members on as equal a playing field as possible.

Two of these rules involve a limit in the size of the file in which you submit your entry, and the other is a limit in the resolution of your entry. Recently, Threedy has had some issues with the forum software which has taken away the ability to upload entries to the servers. When uploading was active, members had a safeguard on the file size limit because the software would not let you upload an image if it was over the limit. Now that the image uploading is inactive, that safeguard is no longer in place, but the rules still are! So now it is being left up to the members to make sure that they themselves are following the rules laid before them.

I hope this explains the logic behind the rules and the enforcement of them.

Marty

No edits are allowed to be made to any entries after the challenge has ended. This has always been the case. Any entries that have been edited after the challenge has ended will be automatically disqualified.

What if we originally submit it as an incorrect file type or size? Are we allowed to edit our entry with the correct file type and size as long as the image isn't modified?

No, you may only edit an entry while the challenge is currently active. If an edit is made, there are to be no changes made to the model itself. This means that you may re-render a work to make it more presentable, or change the camera angle, or even recomposite the entry. But only while the challenge is currently active. Once the challenge is over no changes are to be made.

1 question.
Regarding the weeks where we have posted our images Off site for the SMC`s.
When the attachment problem is solved, can we re`up the same image onsite that we posted off site?

Well... I'm honestly not sure what's going on with the image uploading issue as of yet. But if/when the problem is solved... Yes... we will announce it so people may edit their entries to upload the entries here.

Just a quick question. I know it has been brought up many times and forgive me if I have missed the thread informing of the reasons.

I have noticed that a number of challenges are not judged, or take many months before they are. This may be a reason for people slowing down in modelling for this sites challenges. People like to be judged, even if it is only by their peers. If it takes months to be judged and they are eagerly waiting for the moment they have a mention, they may not enter any more challenges.

Regularity of judgement would be one of my main concerns for the challenges and the keeping of members to this site.

Please forgive me if that has been mentioned many, many times.

Yes, the goal was to have the challenges judged in a more regular fashion and I have been working on trying to make that a reality. Unfortunately, I have had some difficulty in keeping the judgings up to date. Two of my assistants have gone MIA and have left me to fend for myself... and with a few virus attacks and real life getting in the way... delays have put me more behind. I am working on this problem and I'm really trying hard to get things back on track. Patience is appreciated.

Thanks for the update Marty. I do appreciate your time. Perhaps if others mention this again we should direct them to your comments for reference.

I am not the greatest modeller, but if their is anything I could do to assist, please don't hesitate to ask.
