Howdy,

I been snooping around here for a couple of weeks now. Like so many before me, I'd been lurking at the forums is see what is going on. Very impressive, by new and old alike. It's seems amazing to me how well and fast the so-called "noobs" grasp this 3d stuff. Really great. I'm glad to be apart of it finally.
And Ross.....great idea for a thread....especially since a few of us are waiting for the posting to come back up on the speed modeling challenges.

Glad to be part of the "family". And welcome to all the newbies!

Hello everyone. Name's Brian but you can't hold me to that...

I was a trying to get jobs as a traditional animator for a couple years, but they kept getting away. Now I am back getting my certificate & masters in Art Ed so that I can teach. To fill up the blank space between schoolwork, work and sleep I'm teaching myself 3D on Max7. It's not that I never liked 3D- in fact, I embrace computers whenever possible- it's just that I focused more on Flash and the Adobe Suite.

As I'm learning, I'll be posting some of my stuff and trying to learn from all of you. If you've got a spare minute and want to waste it, check out my website at www.cirrusepix.com and watch some of my non-3D animation.

BTW? how do I upload an avatar? it won't give me an option.

Welcome to the forums ZS. It's good to see more and more animators showing up here .

You should be able to upload an avatar by going to User CP, where under the tab "Settings and Options" it should say edit avatar. You might need a certain number of posts tho.

Great site BTW. Imperial Rage was awesome

Thanks! As an animator, I'm probably gonna be worried more about "how it moves" over "how it looks" so I've essentially have twice as much to learn as anyone who just sticks to modeling. Thus, I am hoping for a lot of help as I need it.

hi everyone,

I have been browsing the forums for a few days, and it seems like a great place, I havent posted anything yet, but I fgure I might as well start.

I aquired a copy of 3ds max 7 through school, and I was told to make a 30 second animation. no teacher in my school actually understood the complexity of this program, as I had no prior experience and they expected me to do a 30 second animation in just under a month. either way I fell in love with the features of this program and the idea of one day becoming a decent 3d artist.

So basicly I can say this about myself, I have about 3 months experience with 3ds max, but have been an avid photoshopper for about 4 years. I am probably the youngest here, as I am 15 and in grade 10. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, and I am hoping for you all to see my skill growth, no matter how long it will take. (I heard it could take years.)

Hello suisso, frost000. Welcome to Threedy forums. Hope to see your stuff around the boards soon.

frost000 - Age matters little, and there are a few folk younger than yourself on here. When it comes to 3d work all that matters is how much time you practice, not the age that you began practicing. And you heard correctly, it will take years.
