this is the first time i have ever sculpted teeth. 2h10m and im calling this one done. i think i will make a few of these with different proportions, and use the best one as my final entry. will there be a final entry page eventually or do we just post it in here?

"8. Do not create your own WIP thread. Simply post all WIP screengrabs in here, but clearly state when you show your FINAL entry."

I've a feeling this is the place. Make sure you say it's your final (which I think you did say).

Is that your final, or is it a WIP, Ties? Nice detailing.

Here's my WIP. Currently at 60 minutes.

Nice sculpt, but there really is nothing wrong with the basemesh...with the power of "Move" tool, the mods could have just said do it from sphere, and it still is possible.

i liked the base mesh, it could have used a few more polies on the ears, and the teeth were a bit off center, but the pollies were pretty evenly distributed, it was made of all quads (as far as i know, i didnt have time to really check), and i never ran into any dimples caused by 3 or 5 edges intersecting at point. it wasnt perfect, but it was a pretty solid base mesh in my opinion

for my next try, i think ill make a fat orc

I myself had no problem with the basemesh.

freesupra: That's a really good sculpt. You've got skills, I think it would be a shame not to give it one last try with the basemesh and join the challenge.

Here's an update on my orc:

I prefer the base mesh to be supplied by the staff, as it really does level the playing field. I could have easily gone in and modeled my own base mesh in Silo before sculpting but that wasn't what the rules stated and wouldn't be fair to folks unable to model their own base meshes, as I'd have an added advantage.

The base mesh supplied gives you what you need to get the challenge done. How well you work with it can also show you how well you work in a production environment, where you're not always in control of each phase of creation. Just something to think about.

yeah i can understand that. but i dont want to get into an arguement here but if its just about sculpting then using the primitive objects inside the sculpting packages shouldnt be an issue. as they are placed there for the single purpose of sculpting. i appreciate the time the staff has gone to for putting this comp together and for supply the base materials but i just found that it was more beneficial to use something from within the package. but thats just me.
good work freespace its coming along nicely
