awesome concept man. loving it. a suggestion.. what if the chick's hair spreads more that just the spot on the demon's chest? make it wrap around some parts of the demon's body (shoulder or neck) and kinda make it look like a scarf or some sorf of clothing.

I wonder how did you draw the chain...I suppose you weren´t copy-pasting the same link during a whole day (I know there are some pretty simply quick tricks in whatever software people use, in my case in ps as well, I just dunno about them...)
anyways, really nice progress!

Wow, impressive. SHould be epic when done! Not sold on the girl yet though...although maybe if the chains wrapped around in loops aroungd the arms rather than being as 'loose' then it would look more like a control element? I like how they are stabbing the demons hands, thats a nice touch.

Hey Puckducker, you've got a point about the chains! With all the crap that's going on in her hands, you do get a bit lost. I would prefer them to come out of her hands, so I'll try a few ways to make that work a bit better (like smaller fire out of her hands), but if it still looks dizzying, I'll start moving them around! thanks for the crit you have no idea how helpful it is!, I didn't notice that before !

oh good idea! I'm trying to think of good places for the hair to wrap around and still keep good flow to it. Any suggestions?

Hey Kravo. I made a custom brush in photoshop. First I made this alpha:


Then I changed a bunch of the settings. I can't really upload the brush cause I don't have a website, but here are the settings I used:

Brush Presets:
*master diameter: 102px

Shape Dynamics:
*Shape Control: Pen Pressure
*Angle Control: Direction
*Roundness Jitter: 11%
*Min Roundness: 25%

Other Dynamics:
*Opacity Control: Pen Tilt
*Flow Control: Pen Pressure

*Check Smoothing On

To make the brush just save the image above and go to Edit>Define Brush. Then edit the brush with the settings above and resave the brush.

Ok quick update. Again, ignore the pretty lame lighting, but it just gives me a sense of how I want to do things in 3d. Changed a few things. I need to integrate her into the body, and then after a few touch-ups I'll be moving to zbrush.

Feel free to crit anything

You've got such a valid point it's not even funny! I've been thinking a lot on how I'm going to accomplish this (or fail spectacularly). I figure I'm going to have to make the high poly model module, so I can remove stuff as needed. I understand I'm not going to be able to fit EVERYTHING I want on this, but it's better to paint out as many ideas as I can, rather than run up short on ideas.

Ok this is list is more for me than anybody else, but if I have to, here are things that will have to go to comply with the poly count:

Spikes: Less of them
*No back spike on them
*spikes on arms and legs will be baked (<- that one is for sure happening)

Chains:
*Make the chains shorter
*Sub the chains with a solid object.
*make the chains on planes, like particles (kinda a cheat, not sure if that's allowed in the rules)


Girl:
*Mainly optimize how much she sticks out of the demon-lord so there is maximum exposure with the smallest polycount. Like her back should almost fully be in it, her butt will be basically fully in it. One leg, and maybe shoulders

Anyways, this is going to be tough, but I've never been comfortable staying in my comfort zone, so this should be exciting to get punished!

One final update and now it's off to zbrush. I might add some fire-patterns on him like she has, but right now That's not essential for me to start sculpting. I'll give it some thought before I go there

Also, the hair may not look like this. And the integration to the body. Might be something like this it might not be. We'll see what happens.

Straight from DominanceWar.com - "2-sided tris are permitted."
So if you need to, go ahead and make your chains out of alpha cards and save a ton of geometry.
