I like the Prime's idea. I think doing an environment would be great fun.
Here's some ideas for if we do an environment:

a desert village
dreamscape (or nightmare, to go with hula's idea)
a run-down building
interior of a spaceship

I got an idea:

what if we took the begining of a story, which gives just enough information to understand the setting, but not enough that your imagination doesn't have to do anything. We take this starting point and make it the theme of the challenge.

The way I see it in my head, it can be turned into an enviro and character comp. You would pick the one you want, and run with it. There would still be limits/restrictions.

Have we done anything like that before.

I wouldn't mind an environment on a small scale, like a building, vignette, or diorama type deal. Doing entire environments is tough for a competition.

Hmm, this kind of plays towards the really low-poly idea as well as Toe's idea.

How bout we do an RTS themed one? We could do an RTS unit as well as the building they spawn from.

This is a good idea. I don't think I've ever seen a RTS comp before.

threedy chibi tribute comp.

you take a classic/renowned/truly awesome model posted on threedy sometime over the years and rebuild it chibi style

examples include - taehoon's DW winner, Alex's death dealer, anything Klash did ever, Sathe's warmachine, Parkin's DW winner and so on

doesn't have to be characters - there's plenty of vehicles and environments that could stand the chibi treatment

lets say 5k tris & 1024map for characters.vehicles/weapons etc. and 25k tris & 4096 map for environments

the only restriction being that it's been posted on threedy and you can link to the thread.

i love THE rts idea but maybe for first Competition make setting for THE game and second Competition make unit/towers/buildings to fit in that setiing so you have to use your created setting 2

@Terry, that would mean that people who didn't participate in the first, wouldn't be able to participate in the second. Also, there is a big chance that people who participate in the first wouldn't be able to participate in the second contest.
