Particle effects count towards your triangle limit it says.

So I'd think that fumes would be okay, so long as you managed the triangles and knew how many there would be at any given time, I don't see why someone couldn't do them.

I used particles for last years competition and it was OK. I just had to keep track of how many particles there were and make sure the Tri limit never exceeded the rules limit. OK, So it's not the greatest character, but that's not the point.

grindill: I like it so far, I like the dying/dead plant I would do the same with the grass a bit more, and I personally would like to see a bit more of a structure within the figure as a whole but that.s just my opinion.

@grindill: I remember looking at your entry last year and saying to myself:
Wow...Cool FX! It made an impression on me because of that.
My concept for this year could probably call for a particle system like yours. I will try to follow your thread from DWIII to try and make it.


@DJdude: Nvidia released a free photoshop plugin that will convert grayscale image to normal map, so you can paint them or use desaturated photos.
