Well, honestly, this guy has some of the problems that rookies - no offense - always seem to have. It's no problem, we all gotta start somewhere, but with soooo much time left before the competition ends, I'd suggest you model another guy or two and see if you can improve on some of the faults here. Namely, the poly flow and the proportions; Puckducker is right, he is very flat and there are waaaaaaaay too many subdivisions and edge loops for so little detail. And is proportions are off; his legs are too short, his chest too long, etc.

The good news? It's relatively easy to fix....

If you really wanna see improvement, you should start from the beginning and MAKE MODEL SHEETS!!! If your proportions look good on paper, it'll translate to the 3D piece. That's why they're so important. You say you can't draw, but the difference between using them and not is night and day -- you really should use them and set up your scene right. Besides, this competition is the best kind of practice there is! Even if you just find pictures of actors or something standing in orthographic poses, it'll be far, FAR better than modeling willy nilly. Hell, if you have a digital camera, take pictures of yourself in a T Pose, if you REALLY don't wanna draw anything. It'll help; I promise

Secondly, in addition to grabbing as much reference** as you can, as PuckDucker said, go grab a solid slate of tutorials to learn some tricks and tighten up your workflow/process. The Joan of Arc tutorial here on 3DTotal is a classic:

http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials...c/joanmenu.asp

And the best tutorial I've ever seen for body modeling is from Gnomon Workshop:

http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/mes02.html

http://keepthemfree.net/tutorial/the...ayan-escalante

If you go through a few tutorials and keep at it, you'll improve immeasurably very quickly. But honestly, with so much time left and your current model lacking in some areas, I'd get to work on another model and see where that one goes before rigging anything and thinking about finishing.

Remember, this is WAR, soldier! Our enemies will show us no mercy, so we have to bring our best to the competition!

Good luck!

**
(and not just samurai reference; go check out previous low poly comp winners here and take a look at the wireframe shots of their characters to get an idea as to how a nice clean poly flow should look)

Thanks so much for such detailed post.
Ok, I remade my lowpoly model, I sincerely cant find more loops to remove, except for hands, but thty loose detail that way, I'm at 9020 tris at the moment, so I have 1000 more for details and maybe second weapon, and/or pet. Could you Pleeeease say what can be improved of my mesh at the moment. I like it a lot more now

Well, have you checked the proportions yet with the help of reference? I have the feeling that the legs are still too short.

it's not legs short, its hakama, - skirt type samurai trouses, his center is where the belt is. They used to be short, yes, but now I made them after reference. I need to work on trouses though, so legs don't look too short, thanks.

you can save tris by going into all arour that is double sided, and deleting the insides. Anything that wont be seen, doesn't need to be there, and anything that you can egt away with using a 2 sided texture, do it.

My armouor is extruded from body, it's single sided(only countours are extruded to sides so it loks doublesided) , helmet eats up a lot of polys, since it has many layers, I wonder if I delete these will it still look good with normalmap attached? (ps image updated)

It's hard to tell, since the armor is in the way, but I think the joints are modeled wrong. Here's what I mean; you gotta model them for deformation:

I'm not the best guy for this, but hope it helps. Keep going, man. The lowest note should read 'FACE' not EDGE.

Looks better now :-)
Have a look at the shoulders (namely how the arms bend there) in front-view and at the shape of his body in side-view. These two parts can be reworked, so they look more natural, in my opinion.
Here're two links to show what I mean:

Thanks Just.
Ok. So I have this idea of giant turtle pet, that is clans pet for the time clan started to train to fight against demons. So turtle is about 10000 years or so and crushes everything on the way.
