What music do you listen to while creating 3D

I usually listen to OST's like Last Samurai it's really relaxing ^^
but then... it's also too calm at times, so i switch back at house elektro and slow OSTs

what do you listen to while modelling/animating etc?

Interesting :-) I mostly listen to all sorts of metal (for the few couple of days there were nothing but a Iced Earth all over), but then some darkwave also comes in handy (Voltaire Dead Can Dance). But what keeps me awake at nights is Bob Marley, pretty catchy

mood dependent. the stuff i model or sketch has nothing to do with it.

mainly noise, rhythm/power noise, industrial, all kinds of electronic core - except happy hardcore, hardstyle, jumpstyle, classical overtueres or sinfonies, a few operas in minor, electro, ebm, drum n bass.

when i am depressed i listen to hans zimmer scores, southern folk, traditional folk, cold pop, cold wave, military pop, country, chansons.

when i am happy... meh.. this never occurs....

Interesting thread! I usually listen to OSTīs too and also to Marillion (only the songs fish was singing). Sometimes I go to mymusic.de and listen to the top 100. But I also like to listen to musicals, hard rock and heavy metal. It depends often on what kind of work I do. While painting textures i.e. I canīt stand listen to fast music

The Deadweather, Brendan Benson, Phoenix, the Decemberists Hazards of Love album the Black Keys, TV on the Radio, Soledad Brothers, The Greenhornes, The Kills, The White Stripes, my band, friends bands, Holly Golightly, Billy Childish, lots of stuff from the Detroit area, the list goes on and on. And sometimes when I feel like a giggle: Natalie Portman's Shaved Head.

I wrote as many names that popped into my head so that you could look them up if so inclined...

I listen to albums that flow well. I don't like having to constantly skip songs, be distracted by a huge change in the music, or listen to something that demands too much of my attention. Most Progressive Rock really fits the mold well. To name a few, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Rush, Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, and Caravan all seem to work very well for me.

Recently I've been playing Genesis's Selling England by the Pound a lot. I just can't get passed how amazingly arranged that whole album is, especially the song Firth of Fifth. It's so easy to listen to that whole album and forget how much time passed. Definitely a musicianship highlight in Rock history.

Nupsi - Never able to get into Marrillion. I should like them, I'm a big fan of Gabriel era Genesis. I don't know what it is, the music just seems uninspired and Fish's vocals seem forced.

Awesome, someone transcribed the piano intro to Firth of the Fifth for the guitar.

metal is a bit too distractive for me. ( unless it's a speedmodeling competition XD ! )

I prefer for modelling something like trance or the like. Steady flow, easy to follow, not much to think about and always a predictable endpoint!

nice thread , have to admit that I am with you on the OST's they are great background music that dosnt distract from the artwork. most recently the soundtrack to Battlestar Galactica, but also The Fountain, LOTR and Last of the Mohicans. will also listen to a little Dead can Dance, Mogwai, Massive Attack and Faithless. occasionally a little of the good ol rock. Hendrix et al
