DWIV - 3D - Setschaos - Robot Scout

Alright, most of the day I spent thinking out a singular design as opposed to sketching out multiple sihlouettes like I normally would. I feel I got a stronger start than what would have come ofter the sketches.

Here's my WIP, It's a scout with a particularly large sniper rifle ^_^

Enjoy.

It's looking good. I really like the massive sniper rifle. (I'm not sure if such a big gun works for a scout) cool design though. keep it up

Looks great. Definately looks stealthy. I'm not sure about that big of a rifle either. Maybe it telescopes down to a more reasonable size to carry until he needs it.

maybe if the gun was his arm. The butt end could extend from the elbow or something.
And the white bg drowns out any details that are there. Cool shapes and concept.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really want to model both hands, so I think I'll stay away from the gun/hand Idea, though it is a good one. An original Idea I had was for the gun to be a short range weapon, maybe a shotgun. I got the idea when I was first drawing out the sniper; before the barrel, it looked like an assault rifle or a shotgun, so maybe ill run with the idea of it being a scout with short range protection, since it does have to get up close frequently.

I'm modeling now, so any comments are much appreciated

that current rifle could easily be converted into a shotgun imo. chop off the long slim front end of the rifle already makes it look like a shotgun

Real great concept, I love the super thin arms. Only thing to be careful of is to make sure the bot is balanced in its stance. You can have it's feet be small, as long as its body weight is properly distributed. I think you should keep the gun really big, cause you could have some really cool poses where the robot has to put its entire body weight into holding the gun up.

A little update, started on the 3d, I'm going to try to get a little vague detail in before I export to ZBR.

Cool! I like it. I sort of get the opinion it would be good for a 'comic' stealth bot. Kind of like that small one in Transformers, albeit deadly. Har, Har, BANG! Awww

I would definitelly use the smaller gun though, the rifle seems as if it would make him fall over

I was thinking if you made those 3/4 rings full rings on his elbows blades he could use them as weapons too?

Discmage That seems like it may be a good idea, they're just tracks to guide his forearm in the correct direction, sort of like a different kind of joint, but I see no reason not to turn them into more close range weaponry.

I'm still playing around with the idea of a shotgun vs sniper rifle, but I figure I have plenty of time to make up my mind. Really, I guess that's the biggest controversy, so maybe if more people put in their input I could make up my mind.

Thanks for the comments thus far.

In my opinion I would use the smaller size, but beef it up perhaps. I like the shotgun idea. Shotguns are ALWAYS cool. Make sure to put some sort of greande launcher on it too though
