Evolution
Sculpting Challenge #7 Subject – The Evolution ![]() Thread Naming: Your Name – Evolutin Keep all questions in this thread With all this talk about the end of the world, the smartest scientist gathered to create a super human cure in preparation for what may come. This potion of sorts, was supposed to be able to shield the human body from any and all viruses Mother Nature could throw at us. It was supposed to be the end all to viral based deaths. They were wrong. The one thing those scientist didn’t account for, Mother Nature’s ability to adapt. She doesn’t play by our rules, she makes her own. The Mayans weren’t entirely wrong. The world as we know has come to an end. In an attempted to save lives, mankind doomed the world. Now all life on Earth has changed, Evolved, into something, different. All animals, all insects, all humans, nothing is what we are use to. The Evolved ones run things now. Due Date: Sunday February 17th 11:59pm GMT Idea: So here’s the thing, the theme is evolution, what you decide to evolve, is up to you. You can create a human type character, an animal of any kind, insects, or, for you environment types, make a “pedestal” environment that shows what you think the world looks like in this new age. If you want to go bigger than a piece of a city, go for it, but keep the due date in mind when coming up with an idea. Pedestals/Stands: You do not have to create one, but it would be nice if you did. You can go as crazy as you want, or keep it basic. Restrictions: -Joint entries are allowed for this challenge, this means, you can have someone draw a concept for you, but you must do all the sculpting yourself. -Your entry must be specifically created for this challenge. Do not use any pieces from previous works. -You will be supplying your own base mesh for the competition, from which you will sculpt from. You can create your base mesh in any application (3dsmax, Maya, XSI, Cinema4D, Zspheres in Zbrush, etc) using any technique. Don’t use any pre-made base meshes, you must build it specifically for this challenge. -There are no lighting restrictions. -You must create a W.I.P Thread to show off your work in progress. - If you post in the final entry thread, you must also vote when the time comes. If you do not, your entry will be disqualified. Final Pictures: Required In The Final Post (1 post per entry): - A picture of the original character you are making. - 1 x Winning shot (render or screen grab). This image should consist of your object depicted in its most awesome angle. - 1 x Beauty shot (render or screen grab). Feel free to put multiple angles of your object or just one big version or your object on this page. You are free to do whatever post effects you like on this image. Be careful how you do this though, simple is often better. It’s up to you. - 1 x Construction shot of your base mesh and at least 3 shots (screen grab) of your sculpt as you work from beginning to end. Feel free to put more if you like, it’s up to you. - Concept Sheet (if you have one) - Link to your W.I.P. thread Prizes: (4 entries required) 1st Place Prize: £30 worth of 3DTotal downloadable products. This can include any 3DTotal ebooks, magazines issues, subscriptions or downloadable texture DVDs, and products can be chosen from here: http://shop.3dtotal.com/ 2nd Place Prize: £10 worth of 3DTotal downloadable products. This can include any 3DTotal ebooks or magazine issues, and products can be chosen from here: http://shop.3dtotal.com/ Good luck everyone! BiG ToE. |

Awesome challenge! Will join you guys after this weekend. Btw I'm a mutant too I have a gene that keeps on making teeth so I'm developing a second row of teeth. I read somewhere that a lot of people are getting born without a little toe. Curious what you guys come up with!

For future reference, just out of curiosity (not the rover) how much sculpting does the sculpting challenge require. Is it start from sphere, move from there, or can we make a mesh and then sculpt it until a satisfying level.

you can start from whatever you want, then sculpt till you're happy with the final result.
