Jurassic Park
Sculpting Challenge #9 Subject – Jurassic Park ![]() banner art by ClassicGamer Thread Naming: Your Name – Jurassic Park Keep all questions in this thread As the sun sets you notice the speed of the wind increasing. A slight rumble can be heard off in the distance. Everyone seems to be getting a little antsy. A storm is coming. The rain starts as a gently drizzle, quickly turning into a full on down pour. A flash of lightening breaks the night’s sky causing instant panic in the group. The commotion sends one of your group into the fence, knocking it over. As everyone escapes the enclosure they used to call home a two legged creature tries to block the way. They are quickly taken care of. More of these two legged creatures can be found off in the distance, so that’s where we are headed. It’s feeding time and we’re all hungry. Due Date: Sunday January 12th 11:59pm GMT Idea: This is a SketchFab Sponsored Challenge. This means, you must display your final model and texture using the SketchFab program. Go take a look at the SketchFab website to get an idea of what the program can do for you. Sketchfab is a web platform for publishing your 3d models interactively, anywhere online. Basically, its like Youtube but for 3D models. In fact, they're already partnered with 3D Total, so that you can embed the viewer in the forums with one click. See this tutorial on how to use here ![]() Sculpt a dinosaur. You can either pick a dinosaur that existed in prehistoric times, or you can get real creative and create your own. You are not limited to one dinosaur, so if you feel like doing a group, go for it. Textures are not mandatory, but did you do add color to your sculpt; try to keep it at a minimum. Pedestals/Stands: You do not have to create one, but it would be nice if you did. You can go as crazy as you want, or keep it basic. Restrictions: -Joint entries are allowed for this challenge, this means, you can have someone draw a concept for you, but you must do all the sculpting yourself. -Your entry must be specifically created for this challenge. Do not use any pieces from previous works. -You will be supplying your own base mesh for the competition, from which you will sculpt from. You can create your base mesh in any application (3dsmax, Maya, XSI, Cinema4D, Zspheres in Zbrush, etc) using any technique. Don’t use any pre-made base meshes, you must build it specifically for this challenge. -There are no lighting restrictions. -You must create a W.I.P Thread to show off your work in progress. - If you post in the final entry thread, you must also vote when the time comes. If you do not, your entry will be disqualified. Final Pictures: Required In The Final Post (1 post per entry): - Your model showcased in the SketchFab program - 1 x Winning shot (render or screen grab). This image should consist of your object depicted in its most awesome angle. - 1 x Beauty shot (render or screen grab). Feel free to put multiple angles of your object or just one big version or your object on this page. You are free to do whatever post effects you like on this image. Be careful how you do this though, simple is often better. It’s up to you. - 1 x Construction shot of your base mesh and at least 3 shots (screen grab) of your sculpt as you work from beginning to end. Feel free to put more if you like, it’s up to you. - Concept Sheet (if you have one) - Link to your W.I.P. thread Prizes: (4 entries required) 1st Place: A year’s subscription to 3dcreative and 2dartist magazine, plus Creating a Sci-Fi Speed Painting and Compositing Tricks for 3D Artists video training and an eBook of your choice. What i'd really love to see amongst the great dinosaur sculpts would be something really creative out of the box design like a humanoid dino cross breed kinda like a t-rex and hulk or something, or an iconic fight between a Spinosaurus vs Carcharodontosaurus

humanoid dinozaur sounds cool, but in my opinion it overused allready. i remember even a tv series about human/dinozaurs. i my self am going to try to blend a now existing animal with a dinozaur with as much contrast as posible . curent idea/concept - bunyzaurus-rex.
![]() good luck to everyone that will participate |

as i remember there is a size limitation but not polygon limit. as long as youre sculpt fit in something of 40-60mb size (dont remember the correct size and too lazy to search for it now) its ok to upload. by the way - i think decimation master will become our friend (sorry for all mudbox users that dont have this great tool).
by the way xxxubanxxxx, youre in? |
