The New Weekly Photo Modelling Challenge #30 - 20th Century Fox Logo
![]() How Does This Work Then? Each week or two myself or 3D Total's photo resource will provide a set of photo's to model from. Each challenge we would like all who participate to model from the same references to learn, improve or showcase your ability in modelling from a photo set. In my version of this challenge there are no limits to how many tris/quads you wish to use, but I would like to see you all try to match the photo as closely as possible in size & shape aswell as texturing too. The Rules Please post your wires, clays, & any texture sheets and final renders in this thread, wip and on topic chat is also fine here too, these challenges are supposed to be fun and we are not too strict on the rules. The Prizes The only prizes are a gold, silver and bronze awards dictated by these lovely little icons Deadline Date: Friday 10.00pm GMT 7th March 2014 (You've got a full 3 weeks for this challenge as i'm on a night out the week before) Deadline Timer This Weeks Challenge: In this challenge i'd like to see you all take on the task of creating the 20th Century Fox Logo. 20th Century Fox has been a part of the film industry since 1935.... the company was founded on May 31 of that year as the result of the merger of Fox Film Corporation, founded by William Fox in 1915, and Twentieth Century Pictures, founded in 1933 by Darryl F. Zanuck and Joseph M. Schenck. 20th Century Fox has distributed various commercially successful film series, including Star Wars, Ice Age, X-Men, Die Hard, Planet of the Apes, Fantastic Four, Alien and Predator and of course many many television series including The Simpsons, M*A*S*H, The X-Files, Family Guy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, Modern Family and 24 to name but a few. The logo has gone through many transformations throughout the years but above all have mainly stayed the same..... the challenge of this topic is to actually model the text aswell as the supporting structure that the text is surrounded by. You can choose to model any variant from 1935 all the way up to today, the original was actually painted onto layers of glass and they didn't switch to a completely CG variant until the 90's.... possibly 1994 but i'm not 100% on that ![]() There are several different versions from different films such as the "From Hell" variant which looks like it's in hell obviously, to the "Robots" version, to a snow covered Ice Age variant........ the best part about this unusual object is that it's got plenty of different variants but essentially the same, so not everyone's entry has to be the same if they don't wish to. However If you can get your entry as close to the variant you model from, be it the original logo or the latest 2014 logo or any variants inbetween, that'd be really cool ![]() So this challenge is a little different, you are essentially modelling the same object like the challenges before, but you have the options to play around with different looks if you wish ![]() I've provided 29 variants of the logo in the ref pics archive, although any fox film or tv series will have the logo available, and the opening title sequence will give you all the angles you need....... but i'd like to see all entries showing the final state of the logo with the camera pulled back etc....... ok enough waffling, go get modelling and enjoy it ![]() Reference Pictures A Few Reference Pictures (12.13mb) Reference Site

I started on this one today, and this is where im at for now. Hopefully I can finish the base modelling this weekend. So I will have more time for tweaking and texturing.
And as you can see I choose the logo for Robots, or well the logo they used in the trailers, the movie itself only has the standard one ![]() WIP
