Hi, when i generate normal maps in 3dmax, they are ok, but when i generate them in xnormal, the normals are strange, the cavities are bumps and bumps are cavities (its like the height information was flipped) anyone knows why that happened? I didnt have this problem yesterday

You have to flip either the red channel or green channel in Photoshop.
I cant remember which one it was but I'm guessing the green channel.

Is it possible to do multiple bakings at once? I tried it a couple times but when the models are overlapping it render both the models instead of one.

@piotrek255, you need to flip the green(Y) channel. See the "swizzling" options in xNormal ( use X+Y-Z+ )

In previous versions yep. In the newest ones nope... because I needed to save RAM... think that a 4096x4094 normal map can occupy near 1Gb with full AA... so if you render all the maps together your computer gonna be outta RAM very easy.

will it be possible again in future versions? Maybe generate a new image for every baking pass. When automaticly offsetting every model (high and low poly) and creating a distince between the models wouldn't that work?

I'm not sure, I need to think about it.

hi
i have a trouble using xnormal
the baking procress and the output looks really fine
but one problem is that the mesh will effect each other when they are close
for example...the pants or the fingers...the maps will reflect each other
anyone know hoe to fix that

Try to use the cage to limit the rays?

Hi jasonlin, I see about what you speak but this problem was resolved in the quite last update, goes to see the site.

Just thought I'd say I WAS MIGHTY impressed with XNormal...it takes a lot of the fear out of getting a hipoly mesh baked onto a lowpoly...max doesn't seem to like crazy poly counts.

So kudos to you !!!

You may have seen my post in the DW4 thread (in my signature)...but I thought this would be more specialised for requests and ideas...if you are still taking them

My request for XNormal if at all possible is sort out the seam issue and put in a gizmo for transforming cage vertices (move/scale/rotate similar to 3DSMax gizmo (restricted axis etc)). Some extra ideas for that could include having a 'Flatten selected vertices to Axis' so you could quickly flatten the selected vertices perfectly flat across the X, Y or Z axis.

If you do that I don't think I could even THINK of more things to add...well I could, if I sat down and THOUGHT about it...but yeah

When i tourn on Launch viewer in xNormal i have this message :
"this graphics drivers is in alpha state.that means can be unstable and is not yet finished and neither well optimized"
the effect is
1.that in spite of i have big screen my view window is very little
2.Performance is very little should be 60 frames and there is 5

I have never earlier had this problem , i tried open my old works witch yesterday worked correctly and today for all my stuff i have the same message and effect.
