I think what he is trying to say that a lot of 3D work today lacks art. You know, we can create technically perfect human face, but it's not art, it's perfect craftmanship. Nothing wrong with that, I am jsut trying to understand his point of view

But dude, you must understand that not everybody wants to make art (me for instance, I can't do it). There are others who want to make art and they do it in their free time but art doesn't really pay your bills (hail to the exceptions, but they also must be exceptional in what they do).

So yeah, you can bitch high and low how bottom line is money and we sell our own freedom, but that's just not true. We do what we like and I bet every 3D artist/craftman will tell you that he didn't got in because of money - because there are none for at least first year you are learning 3D.

As your image goes - I have to laugh at the midget between her legs and cliparts around. I really don't have anything to say, as the picture doesn't convey any idea. The form kills the whole picture so much you don't want to think about it

I think that when dealing with such a technical based medium like CGI, you cant just throw in a dozen wack-job elements inside a scene, and call it ART, specially when some of the elements are ripped off or imported as ready made assets like Poser or whatever.

All this, considering that the user is legit, and not some veteran user playing mind tricks on everyone (which I have to consider as a possibility).

Edit: A post was published while I was writing mine, and it renders any sort of further discussion useless ahah...

Raul said this best to me a while back its called "student syndrome".
Trying to create a fantastical and deeply meaningful piece of art but without the proper background knowledge to do so well.
Even proper artists have to train and draw before they can create the fantastical works they do. Artists spend a long time painting or drawing and they are masters at their craft, they dont bung in tacky cliparts or sketches and call it art.
All that clipart doesnt make it good, it just detracts form the scene.

Theres real potential here, but if you want to make this arty 3d stuff you need to stop using the cliparts and work on improving your models first.

Could I also just note that if I have misnterpereted what your saying im sorry, but its like your speaking cryptically and its hard to understand.

Even though im "just" a computer graphic artist, (i wouldnt even call myself that, aspiring CG artist would probably be more appropriate). im not stupid, its not what your saying, its the way your saying it.

Although I would like to understand this picture more, because your defending it and your method of working tenaciously.

I would like to ask why you used the cliparts and the bright vivid brushes in photoshop?

This thread is just plain confusing. Sure you may call it art, but even with art their is good art and ****ty art.
