Thank you everyone for your kind words.

I've gone PAINTING CRAZY. I felt challenged by vnmribaya's more geaaar outcry. So, I gave her more gear this time. Although I guess by gear you meant GUNS...and I only put in climbing gadgets She still doesn't have a whole lot of gear but...well, I'm not that good with gear I actually like this one a lot more than my first attempt but I just painted it and didn't concern myself with wip stages and stuff.

And Rievilo, that's a fine idea. MAYBE that example reminds me more of the amazonian jungle type tombs...then again it might be interesting to try it in the nordic setting. I was going to put some carvings on the doorway but...I don't know what happened to them We'll see.

beautiful valtteri.

i agree wth what ya said, vnmribaya is one such artist who acts like a steroid , he will make u want to become excellent. his talent flows out and touches , thats why its encouraging to have him around.

the caps angle looks a lil troublesome but i dnt thnk it will be of much issue.
trees look a lil flat just touch up the trees in the fore front with a daker green to give depth.

i really love ur style though, i though it was very gorgeous story book and i was a part of it.

keep it up
cheers

Cool stuff . Looks really interesting, but I think the first one looks a bit more "complete"...

Yeah, it does...and that's just my problem with it I hate it when I ruin my work by overworking them. But the first one is still my official entry. These are just for fun.

Hey I really like your style! You are a reference to take into account, and I'm sure you will be in the winning list. I like a lot your work with custom brushes, I hope one day IŽll be able to define such good brushes as yours.

Ghaaa, too much to do. All the while trying to keep up with this thread...but I do my best About the brushes again...I'd say one third of that look is the brushes used. The other two are how you actually paint (like physically...) and a more or less linear workflow.

I only recently realized the importance of the flow parameter over the opacity one, at least when dealing with natural brush looks. I used to put pressure controlled opacity on pretty much every brush but something always seemed "wrong" with them. I concluded that they make things look unnatural and machine-like, and there's nothing really wrong with that if that's the look you're going for. I guess the fact that there isn't a real world equivalent to the opacity parameter is what makes it so...you can't really control the opacity of paint mid stroke, particularly not by how hard you press on the surface. Watercolor loses opacity with each stroke but again it's not controlled by pressure. I used to completely disregard flow but now I'm its biggest fan. We'll see how long that phase lasts...

I also used to scan real brushstrokes and use them as templates but not that many of them work very well...other than as little finishing touches. I guess you generally don't want to use just one brush all over a painting. Mix it up but use the more intensely textured ones sparingly. In fact, try to avoid overindulgence in all areas Being an extremist I learned it the hard way.

Well, that was a lot of text. I'm not sure if it answered any questions or interested anyone. But there it is.

And thanks for the kind comments again. I really appreciate it.
