Redesign and Detail Work

Had to do a redesign because what I had just wasn't fitting into the world. Going with this style and trying to finish up all the high end detail work ASAP. Here's some WIPs

Here some modular rubble piles for the scene. They are still missing the extra debris that will stick out of the piles.

Those are some nice rubble piles. I like the slight cartoony look, it looks a bit softer then usual realistic rubble piles.

How did you make these? Sculpt individual stones by hand in zbrush and then also place them by hand in zbrush/max/maya?

I sculpted about 12 rubble pieces which I placed in zbrush. I then baked out a displacement map and used that to create tiling geometry that I could deform with a lattice in Maya to create as many rubble piles as we need.

Cool, thanks for the explanation. Can you also post wireframes? If u just used displacement, isn't the polycount quite high for these models? Or do you optimize after displacement?

Last bits of modeling on my side

Satellite dishes you see floating around the scene. Nice little additions. Now time to bake these and the hero building.
