Speed Modeling - Drilling Sentinel

Hello,
I'm new to these forums and this speed modeling challenge seemed to be rather interesting despite coming into this very last minute. I have worked an hour a night on this since Sunday, so I will be posting the complete model following my breakdown. Here is my concept to start, any comments would be much appreciated.

Complete Model

Okay so over the next few days before the due date I will be doing some test renders and see what I can do to maybe get some texturing done. If not here is a preview of some basic rendering to get a feel of the model in a, more or less, boring pose lol. I also have the orthographic views as well. Please post any feedback or comments on the model, thanks.

sarN - Thanks muchly! You know I never thought it that way... you may have scarred me for the rest of this project lol

Tiberiy - Haha, Good eye! Starship Troopers was actually one of my reference points.

alfonzoaqui - Assuming that human beings create a mechanical device that transfers UV Rays into focused energy/fuel, that is basically how its powered. The two front fuel tanks you can see in my render and other images is grafted to the main body to supply fuel directly to the drill. The sentinel itself is powered through an internal engine that converts the UV rays into energy for the mech. The energy/UV intake sources from the orbs/domes on the head of the sentinel. Think of how a plant converts suns rays through photosynthesis. I used a lot of futuristic based reference to compile the concept. I havn't quite decided if it is man driven or running on AI. None the less, hope this cleared up some confusion lol.

Beauty Renders - Pre-Post Work

Here are some of the beauty renders I've been working on. Played with the focal length of the camera to add some serious size to this thing. I've textured the Sentinel to as much extensiveness as I can before the due date, none the less, I'm happy with the results. If I have time, post work will be done to the model to fully complete the beauty shot. Any suggestions on posing or render styles would be awesome. Thanks for the posts thus far.

Final Images!

Alright so here is my completed images for the end of the competition. I think considering my timeframe and when I actually started this (very last minute lol) that this didn't turn out too bad. Thanks for the comments everyone! Cheers! And Great work was done this month. We should all be proud.

I really enjoy the concept, and U followed it nice, I like the last render it have a dramatic look.

What U did't follow form the concept is the massive look of the model, in the concept the model, the drill look more massive, I think I like it more like that, but the 3d version is nice to.

Thanks :D

thanks for the comment hammering3d. Yeh for some reason tilting camera upward with the focal length set really low gave the impression the drill was a bit smaller than in previous comps. I like the drill bigger myself, makes a little more sense. Thanks again!
